Hateful Republicans Bemoan Democrats For Being Wealthy

Bill Kristol’s son-in-law, Matthew Continetti, the editor of the Washington Free Beacon, is obsessed with anything he finds objectionable about the Democratic Party.  He’s especially outraged that some people who align themselves with progressive values make beaucoup bucks and sometimes spend that money on houses.  Apparently the GOP media, especially The Free Beacon, believe that the Clintons are just unforgivable for collecting high speaking fees and Hollywood actors who align themselves with Socialist/Democratic causes should not enjoy their substantial earnings.  Today’s ‘poutrage’ is over the sale of Sean Penn’s Malibu home for a figure that’s twice what he paid just six years ago in 2009.

The fact that Penn has been critical of Republican incompetence and cruelty towards the poor means that people like Continetti and his employees should scorn transactions that put them in the same earnings class as some of their Republican friends.  The Free Beacon explains:

The mid-century modern beach home was perfect for Penn’s single life, especially since he had been spending so much time in Haiti helping that country recover from a devastating earthquake several years ago.

But times have changed for the actor and activist. It looks as if his relationship with Charlize Theron has finally prompted Penn to make a housing switch. It looks as though baby-proofing the pool wasn’t enough to make the property perfect for Theron and her young son.

It is of no concern that journalist David Brooks, bought a house for $4,000,000 and the Free Beacon didn’t give that or any other Conservative’s domestic extravagance a passing mention.    The only time they write about someone like Brooks is to effusively praise him for his thoughtless writing, and when they mention a humanitarian like Sean Penn, they vilify him for his ‘terrifying’ socialist associations.

Penn, who formed a close relationship with now-deceased Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez, decorated his house with portraits of known racist Che Guevara.

From the Clinton Global Initiative to Sean Penn, the Free Beacon is tortured that there are people who make A LOT of money and don’t think like crass, soulless Republicans who seek nothing more than to punch downward to make themselves feel better.

Part of the problem is that Sean Penn was 100% correct about Bush’s Iraq War fiasco and was rightfully appalled by Senator Tom Cotton’s 47 Traitors letter to Iran.  Continetti and his staff are in the business of lying about Republican blunders by diverting attention to trivial matters.  As such, they will continue to post their contrived nonsense about Hillary Clinton and any Hollywood “elite” who sees right through their incompetence and lies.

To the right Democrats are the sum of all evils. So they can be poor and wealthy and Nazis and Communists and Satanists and Atheists all at the same time

      • OldLefty May 19th, 2015 at 17:39

There is no critical thinking anymore.

        • Khary A May 19th, 2015 at 17:45

Oh you know I love critical thinking. Look up Carl Sagan’s Rules for Critical Thinking and Nonsense -Detection, I think it should be mandatory in every school in America.

That’s what drives them nuts – every time they are confronted by their false narrative.

They also do not believe that a single democrat owns a gun.

I keep telling them that we do and we do not require 100 round mags to hit our targets like so many people seem to require on their side of the aisle.

Well if the last President wasn’t dumber than a bag of bricks, people would actually pay him to speak also.

Oh yeah, no wonder they hate on WJC so much, as he can speak eloquently and maintain the interest of the audience. GWB wanted people to be able to put food on their families. I suppose his speaking fees are substantially lower.

You can fool me once….we won’t get fooled again.

        Strategerie?

by dumping the garbage pail/recycling bin on them – or by smearing pntbutter on them? I don’t get it.

      • ohpaleasegivemeabreak May 20th, 2015 at 08:43

What did GWB do that helped families put food on their tables?

Was it that permanent destruction of up to three quarters of a million good paying American jobs so they could be outsourced – permanently – to third world countries using child labor that was helping American families so much?

It isn’t about whether or not you are wealthy and powerful.
It’s about whether or not you use your wealth and power to influence public policy so that you and your fellow 1%ers become even wealthier and more powerful at the expense of the rest of the American people.

Consider their audience. Older undereducated white men. Anyone that is not one of those is a prime target for hatred and scapegoating.
