Pope Francis Declares Two Palestinian Saints

Pope Francis, who just met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, has canonized two Palestinian women.

Pope Francis declared Marie Alphonsine Ghattas and Mariam Baouardy the first two Palestinian saints of modern times.

Some 2,000 Palestinians gathered in the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Square to sing and pray and celebrate their saints. There, they heard the Pope pay tribute to the way in which the two new saints experienced the love of God.

“Sister Mariam Baouardy experienced this in an outstanding way. Poor and uneducated, she was able to counsel others and provide theological explanations with extreme clarity, the fruit of her constant converse with the Holy Spirit. Her docility to the Spirit also made her a means of encounter and fellowship with the Muslim world,” the Pope said.

“So, too, Sister Marie Alphonsine Danil Ghattas came to understand clearly what it means to radiate the love of God … and to be a witness to meekness and unity. She shows us the importance of becoming responsible for one another, of living lives of service one to another,” he said.

and the church of the ‘false believers’ is gaining ground even among Islam.

wonder what the ‘real believers’ in the WHITE EVANGELICAL BAPTIST KJV 1511 CHURCHES are doing wrong? – maybe if they were a bit more like Westboro?

There he goes again…(the Pope, any Pope)
    Making the Jews pissed off…
It’s not like the catholic church doesn’t have a centuries old reputation for blaming Jews for killing Jesus or anything…
Why should this pope be any different?..

but now when Republicans support Israel, the will also be supporting attacks on the Roman Catholic Church!
that’s two attacks against their religious enemies with the same arrow!
WAR just don’t get much better than that!
‘Specially the ones that nobody has to sign their name to.

While I have no problem with Palestinian saints, it seems like the criteria has been pretty lax for a looooooong time. Catholic, apparently devout, no major scandals attached to your name. The Patron Saints of Meaningless Symbolism.
