College Student Confronts Jeb: ‘You Don’t Have To Be Pedantic To Me, Sir’

Posted by | May 14, 2015 11:30 | Filed under: Politics

A college student confronted Jeb Bush about his brother’s war policies during a stop in Nevada.

The student, identified as 19-year-old Ivy Ziedrich, was amongst a crowd of reporters and attendees clamoring to ask Bush questions while he greeted supporters.

“Governor Bush,” Ziedrich yelled as others attempted to get autographs from the former Florida governor. “Would you take a student question?” Ziedrich caught Bush’s attention, and he immediately approached her. She informed him that she was a University of Nevada political science major and college Democrat.

Moments earlier, Bush told an audience at the event that he believed the rise of ISIS was impacted by President Obama’s removal of U.S. forces from the Middle East. Ziedrich disagreed.

“The threat of ISIS was created by the Iraqi Coalition Authority which ousted the entire government of Iraq. It was when 30,000 individuals who were part of the Iraqi military … were forced out. They had no employment. They had no income. Yet they were left with access to all of the same arms and weapons,” she said. “Your brother created ISIS.”

“Is that a question?” Bush responded. “You don’t need to be pedantic to me, sir,” Ziedrich replied. Bush told the 19-year-old that they simply “respectfully disagree” on the issue.
“We can rewrite history all you want but the simple fact is that we’re in a much more unstable place because America pulled back,” he said before continuing on through the crowd of supporters.

Morning Joe commended Jeb for replying to a student who was from a different party and Joe claimed Hillary would never enter a similar conversation. Of course that diverts attention from the actual question and answer and throws a dig at Hillary at the same time.

      Of course.

There was no question asked in her statement above. She made a statement of opinion and did not ask Bush anything.

      • Suzanne McFly May 14th, 2015 at 12:36

You are correct in the fact a direct question was not asked, however a point was made that would counteract previous statements from Jeb and therefore should elicit some type of response.

If you listen to the whole clip, he interrupted her, and then she did ask her question. She asked why was he saying that ISIS was created by… and the rest was hard to understand. Subtitles would have been helpful. But there was a question.

Ok. That makes more sense. I did not watch the video I was commenting based on the report above.

most news stories nowadays leave out important information. Seems like everyone is writing with their agenda in mind rather than just giving the relevant factual information.

That’s gotta be the look they get when their accountants tell them how much they pay in taxes. Just like a kid on Christmas.

Regardless of whether she was asking a question or making a statement, she is right and Jeb is either inexcusably misinformed, delusional like the rest of his Party, or simply lying.

Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11, AQ did not exist in Iraq before we destabilized the region, Bremer et. al. fomented chaos & hatred with their hair-brained ‘de-Bathification’ policy, and our withdrawal was mandated by the SOF agreement that Iraq themselves insisted ‘Shrub’ sign long before Obama was even elected.

Admittedly many Dems went along with the war vote, but they were lied to. And it wasn’t just ‘faulty’ intel, it a was cherry-picked, manipulated, and deliberate ruse at the very highest levels of W’s administration. Not to mention that any notion of non-aggression was met with accusations of treason by the Right. BushChenCo created this mess, and Jebbie shows his true colors by accusing this obviously intelligent young lady of ‘rewriting history’ when it is his party who make it their mandate to use projection & obfuscation to avoid taking responsibility for their own chronic poor judgement.

Looks like they are going to have to screen for Jeb just like George II

Wasn’t the timing of the withdrawal actually part of W’s plan as well?

  8. rg9rts May 15th, 2015 at 05:17

And you wonder why the gopee hates education sooooooo much?

  9. wpadon May 15th, 2015 at 06:17

So Jeb thinks US troops should have operated under Iraqi authority and be charged in Iraqi courts? Or does he thinks we should have simply occupied the country and do away with the Iraqi government GWB installed.
