Nebraska Looks To Abolish Death Penalty
It’s a conservative state, but they’re finally realizing that the cost of carrying out executions makes no sense.
If the Legislature outlaws capital punishment, Nebraska would become the first conservative in state in more than 40 years to abolish the death penalty. Capital punishment opponents are optimistic following an initial vote this spring to repeal the law but acknowledge they still face a challenge as opponents led by the governor scramble to block the change. Another vote on the issue could come this week.
An unusual coalition of Democrats and Republicans has formed behind the repeal effort.
While Democrats cite racial disparities of who is sentenced to death and the possibility of executing an innocent person, Republicans point to the legal hurdles that have prevented the state from executing anyone. Nebraska’s last execution was in 1997.

Whatever ads come out, whatever press releases the governor…um…releases, respond simply with “The governor wants to kill people.”.
Do this and only this. Every. Single. Time.

Sorry, but there are still crimes and circumstances that DEMAND an execution. Especially, if there’s irrefutable proof of guilt.

No.

I don’t know about ‘demand’, but I’m on the fence in some cases. Mass murder, serial killers, terrorists and knowingly killing a police officer/FBI etc..
Trouble is, the execution happy types keep wanting to lower the bar, and maybe use it for minor offenses.

Do you honestly not know how often wrongly accused individuals have been given the death penalty? It’s a disgusting and barbaric form of punishment and its method needs to be eradicated. Honestly, I think people like you don’t care that there’s a slight chance that the victim is wrongly accused, as long as it puts YOUR mind at ease, right?
