Carly Simon’s Ex-Husband Comes Out In New Book

Posted by | April 17, 2015 23:00 | Filed under: Media/Show Business

Who knew?

She’s in a race with her second husband, James Hart, to see who can publish an autobiography first.

While Carly got a $2 million advance three years ago, and recently turned in her manuscript, Random House still doesn’t have a title for her memoir or a publication date.

Hart could beat her to bookstores having already put the finishing touch to “The Second Husband,” which his agent just sent to several publishing houses.

His book covers his childhood as the son of a Hell’s Kitchen mobster, his studies to become a priest, his friendships with Jackie Onassis and Mike Nichols, and his 20 years as Simon’s husband.

Biggest bombshell? “At the age of 52, I discovered I was gay,” Hart told me. “Carly was terrific in the midst of that. It’s been quite a life.”

Carly’s first husband was James Taylor, but she also had romances with Mick Jagger, Warren Beatty and Kris Kristofferson, all of which led to lots of speculation when she sang “You’re So Vain.”

“I’ve been a second husband a couple of times, and there have been other second husbands in my life, like sex, drugs and rock and roll,” Hart said.

At the age of 52 I discovered I was gay

Sexual orientation can be influenced and sexual behavior can be modified. This man practices heterosexuality for decades before “discovering” himself? No. He was raised with a heterosexual orientation, the society he lives in changes and he becomes subjected to a new influence. He is modified. His behavior changes. Sexual behavior is not fixed.

This man practiced a a sex life that was unnatural for him because society told him it was wrong, after ‘instilling conformity through culture’ throughout his entire life, most likely causing him emotional agony, like left handedness.

This stigmatizing anyone who does not “fit” and conform is exactly what drove people underground, and caused them to live a lie, often deceiving others as they try to force themselves to be “good”.

How is it that you seem to think that heterosexuality is so fragile?

Your ignorance of science is appalling. Sexual orientation is there at birth. Whether it’s genetic or congenital, it’s there from day one. Behavior is another matter. Homosexuals have ‘acted’ straight for eons due to societal pressure. Perhaps this guy is bisexual.
Please educate yourself. It may mean fewer foolish posts on this site, but you’ll have a better handle on reality.

I’d say you have it exactly backwards…
I’m interested, why wouldn’t you go with the standard that he was more than likely living a lie for 52 years and finally came out…a much more plausible scenario backed by evidence of thousands if not millions of others who have done just that…but instead you went for creating a fiction of your very own to fit a narrative you seem to want to believe…

How silly are you, I mean really…??? Do you really believe that hanging with gays will make you gay….??? Why doesn’t that work with say language….? I’ll bet you live in a state with millions of Spanish speaking people but can’t speak more than a few words. Why doesn’t it work with other forms of education…??? We get some people to attend school for 12 years but they finish up dumber than the day they started…(anyone come to mind?)
I’ve really got to laugh if you think you could change my sexuality…I’m thinking it’s more likely pigs will fly before I could get you to suck some guys rod or lick Jenny’s clam if you weren’t already up for it…

Why doesn’t that work with say language….? I’ll bet you live in a state with millions of Spanish speaking people but can’t speak more than a few words.

Actually, this is the easiest way to learn a language, it’s called immersion, and it’s how you learned your first language. You adopted it through exposure to it.

Why doesn’t it work with other forms of education…???</blockquote

It does work with education. You learn by being exposed to a teacher. You also learn through the experience of reading. All that’s required is exposure and acceptance. When a society changes it’s behavioral norms new groups emerge, as these groups grow in size they become culturally more influential, and we’re seeing that phenomenon within our culture now. You can’t watch a movie or tv show without seeing homosexual representatives. You are constantly being exposed to homosexuality, it’s a daily topic of discussion.

I’ve really got to laugh if you think you could change my sexuality…I’m thinking it’s more likely pigs will fly before I could get you to suck some guys rod or lick Jenny’s clam if you weren’t already up for it…

You may be firmly set in your orientation, or you may not be…..I notice your example type consists of oral sex. I don’t think it’s really too much of a stretch of the imagination to see both of these activities as being appealing to someone who is sexually motivated. Necessity is the mother of invention. In a promiscuous society is gender really an obstacle???

Since you didn’t answer the rhetorical question I’m forced to assume you don’t speak Spanish. Immersion isn’t the reason, desire is. You just proved it.

I speak both English and Spanish because I was raised with both languages, I have lived in Germany on and off for 25 years and although my German is fair, I’d hesitate to say I speak it fluently. I have hundreds of friends I have known for many years who can’t speak a word of Spanish, and they live here in Florida where half the signs and 3/4 of the people are Hispanic.
As usual, you created another fiction to fit a failed narrative. If mere exposure was all one need to be indoctrinated we’d all be heterosexual by that logic, that fact that some are not is proof your logic is flawed.

I’m also confused…I thought we were free to do whatever we want…is there something wrong with someone choosing to be gay????? It’s not illegal.

            Exposure, limited immersion.

If mere exposure was all one need to be indoctrinated we’d all be heterosexual by that logic

Check my prior post, I said as a society changes and begins acceptance the new behavior becomes more prominent.

I’m also confused…I thought we were free to do whatever we want…is there something wrong with someone choosing to be gay?????

This is exactly what happens, gender identity roles become confused.

It’s not illegal.(I know you disapprove of the lifestyle)
You see, without a silly 2k year old book you’d have no justification to hate the lifestyle…

Confusion about behavior is just one of the reasons why that book exists. The book contains wisdom for society.

Then why is it you and most of this country don’t speak Spanish…???

You’ve been exposed to the language for years. Many citizens could actually be said to be living in immersion yet can’t speak a word of Spanish.

I work 6 months of the year in Germany yet I am the only American that can speak any German at all…please explain…oh, I’m there the shortest amount of time.
No one of us wears lederhosen, is a socialist, Nazi, or communist…Germany is full of those types…help me out here, why is that?

To summarize, classical conditioning (later developed by John Watson) involves learning to associate an unconditioned stimulus that already brings about a particular response (i.e. a reflex) with a new (conditioned) stimulus, so that the new stimulus brings about the same response.

Being gay can be learned, indeed it is learned behavior, just as heterosexual sex was learned. Sex is taught. Children experiment in sexual role playing, emulating what they see, but they must be taught intercourse. All it takes to learn a behavior is receptive participants.

Nobody’s interested in him per se- and he knows it. He just wants to make money off of his ex- marriage with one of the greatest female singer’s ever.
