Willie Nelson Launching His Brand Of Weed

Country star Willie Nelson will also brand bongs and stores.

Willie Nelson takes a hit of the cigarette-sized vaporizer in his gnarled hand, exhaling a small cloud, before placing it on the foldout table in front of us. We’re seated in the cool enclave of his tour bus, at the entrance to his sprawling property just outside Austin, Texas, which he has dubbed the town of Luck. Up a hill and around a corner, people are rocking out at Willie’s own Heartbreaker Banquet, an annual fundraiser/music festival held concurrently with SXSW.

Now 81, Willie is biding his time before joining the festivities, and we’re talking about why he puts on the event every year. In the process, he lets slip that he has something else in the works: a new brand of weed, called, naturally, Willie’s Reserve.

Pressed on this, he’s either dismissive or coy, though he does indicate that the smoking implement he has again picked up is a part of the line.

If we’re rounding up, Colorado sold a cool $700 million of marijuana in 2014, a.k.a. the first full year of recreational pot sales in the modern world.

A year of legalized recreational marijuana in Colorado has brought the Rocky Mountain state significant savings, reduced crime rates and tax revenue gains.

Crime rates have dipped since Colorado enacted the law, according to the report. It found a 9.5 percent drop in burglaries in Denver and an 8.9 percent decline in overall property crime in the city.

The doomsday vision of those who support continued prohibition has not come to fruition

And we bought a couple hundred acres in Colorado last year to grow organic heirloom apples because the more progressive a state is, the better off everyone is.

Even if you have nothing to do with pot directly, just the fact that it is legal there means more of a tax base for schools and roads and hospitals and that is what is really good for business, not tax breaks or low wages or denying people health care. The republicans are 100% wrong, 100% of the time about everything!

Meanwhile, Gov. Christie in New Jersey is burnishing his far right wing bona fides.

Hard to believe that so many people in this country are still gullible enough believe that conservatives support limited government.

One more reason why Christie will never be president.
