McCain: ‘I’m Ashamed’ Of My Country, My President, Myself

“The Ukrainians aren’t asking for American boots on the ground, that’s not the question here,” McCain said. “They’re asking for weapons to defend themselves and they’re being slaughtered and their military is being shattered.”
Then came the line that stunned Schieffer: “This is a shameful chapter. I’m ashamed of my country, I’m ashamed of my president, and I’m ashamed of myself that I haven’t done more to help these people. It is really, really, heartbreaking.”

I suggest that Sen. McCain and all the people who agree with him, take the advice right wingers smugly dispense when the debate turns to social programs and the cost to taxpayers.
Everyone who wants to foot the bill to provide weapons to Ukrainians is perfectly free to make out a check payable to the Ukrainian government and mail it to Kiev.

We could never give Ukraine enough weapons to combat the support Putin is willing to throw at this, Germany France and the rest of Europe are the people who should be calling the shots as they have the most to worry about. Whether sanctions will work is doubtful and acting w/o UN and NATO would be a disaster. jmo

He should be ashamed of not helping with meaningful job growth in this country, he should be ashamed of what’s happening in his home state as far as the harassment of Mexicans goes and he should still be ashamed of his selection of Quitter Palin as his running mate. He should also be ashamed of Europe not getting more involved in more meaningful talks between the Ukraine and Russia and wanting the US to be the world’s police since he has no skin in the game.
