Gail Collins: Scott Walker Needs An Eraser

Posted by | February 14, 2015 19:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Top Stories

The more we hear about Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, the more we hear that’s troubling.

…Walker went to London on an alleged trade mission and refused to say whether he believes in evolution. Or pretty much anything.

“For me, commenting on foreign policy or, in this case, economic policy in a country where you’re a visitor is not the politest of things,” he told a BBC journalist.

Who knows how that will fly with the Republican base? Maybe they’re dying for a president who’ll go on an international trip and confine his remarks to the virtues of Wisconsin cheese…

He wants to change the way teachers are licensed. Basically, the plan would be to let people with “real-life experience” just take a test to demonstrate that they knew their subject matter. It appears to require no training whatsoever in the actual art of teaching.

Besides, we don’t need no stinkin’ trained teachers! Or unons!

His view of teaching is apparently that anybody can do it. Just the way anybody can be president. As long as they don’t make you talk about evolution.

And again an idiot proves we need more teachers and the ones we have need to be paid a lot better especially the ones who deal with tools like walker.

The size of the eraser would have to equal twice the height of the Empire state Building. Just to knock off half of Walker’s mistakes.

Scott Walker, turning Wisconsin into a southern state one law at a time.

    • burqa February 15th, 2015 at 05:18

It will take a lot more than just laws to turn Wisconsin into a Southern state. He would have to introduce a unique cuisine, a society that achieves a worldwide reputation for courtesy and install a rich culture that produces things as great as blues, rock, jazz, bluegrass, country, zydeco and ska music before Wisconsin would begin to be attractive to multitudes of refugees fleeing other parts of the country they view less favorably.
We get swarms of boat people from New England, the Rust Belt, the upper Midwest and the West, all seeking a better place to live. A lot of times they just arrive with little more than the clothes on their backs, but it is so awful where they came from they seldom return.

Not sure how connected the music origins are to the ‘south’, but Wisconsin has plenty of immigrants and ‘refugees. The northern part of the state has seen a sizable amount of influx of blacks and Hispanics from the south part of the state in recent years. that upsets the conservatives and may be part of the reason Walker survived the re-call, and got reelected.

Walker is so angry about flunking out of school he’ll take it out on everyone he can who wants an education.

A lot of Republicans could use an eraser.

You’ll know he’s about to announce his candidacy for the GOP nomination when he lets his hairstylist allow a spritz of gray to show at his temples to show “seasoning.”

teachers are born – not taught to be teachers – in school they learn to write lesson plans and not upset the principal – NOT how to effectively relate with a student body and draw them into the joy of learning.

An earlier version of this column incorrectly stated that teacher layoffs in Milwaukee in 2010 happened because Gov. Scott Walker “cut state aid to education.” The layoffs were made by the city’s school system because of a budget shortfall, before Mr. Walker took office in 2011.

Fortunately, we liberals understand that opinion pundits should be fact checked in order to determine the credibility of their opinions.

Unfortunately, when you right wingers hear an opinion on FOX news, the story becomes an immutable law of physics for you people, regardless of how many facts to the contrary are presented.

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo is planning to sue Fox News for its inaccurate reports on Muslim “no go zones,” she told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on Tuesday.
