WaPo: Questions Linger Over Scott Walker’s College Exit

Posted by | February 11, 2015 20:00 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

It’s still unclear why Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker didn’t complete his degree at Marquette.

In 1990, that news stunned his friends at Marquette University. Walker, the campus’s suit-wearing, Reagan-loving politico — who enjoyed the place so much that he had run for student body president — had left without graduating.

To most of the Class of 1990 — and, later, to Wisconsin’s political establishment — Walker’s decision to quit college has been a lingering mystery.

Not even his friends at Marquette were entirely sure why he never finished. Some had heard that a parent had fallen ill, or maybe there was some financial strain. Others thought he had simply had enough of school…

Walker’s own explanation has been short and simple. He got a job. He meant to go back. But he just never found the time…

Walker was not close to graduating. After four years, he was at least 34 credits short — about one-quarter of the required total away from earning his degree, according to its report. Walker’s political spokeswoman said she would not contest that finding…

“During my senior year at Marquette University, I was offered a full-time job at the American Red Cross. I thought I would squeeze in a course here or there and finish things off in a year or two, but then Tonette and I got married,” Walker said in his State of the State speech in 2013. “Next thing you know, you’re putting all your extra time and money into your kids.”

In his first year after leaving Marquette, though, Walker wasn’t studying and he wasn’t married; he was running for office.

The Model Republican: I rail against public service and “professional politicians” and insist that only men with experience in the “real world” know what it takes to run things, but of course I’ve never had any experience in the real world other than for a public service organization and have spent my entire adult life as a politician.

,” Walker said in his State of the State speech in 2013. “Next thing you know, you’re putting all your extra time and money into your kids.”

But then again you would have no problems cutting a single mother off at the knees for trying to do just that.
Scott you mean to tell me you want to be the President and you can not juggle two balls in the air at one time.
oh whats you feeling about punters? not of footballs buy easy open questions?

I think he cheated, I really don’t think he won any election.

Just keep in mind that Walker is as crooked as they come. It wouldn’t be surprising to learn he did something that they were going to expel him for, so he quit. Whatever happened, I hope the truth comes out soon.

He was going to be expelled for cheating in the student body election so he left. There is zero proof that he got a full time job with the Red Cross, a place he would never step foot in because it helps poor people and we all know how much he hates poor people.

  13. Candide Thirtythree February 12th, 2015 at 23:17

They KNOW why he quit, it was in the papers the first time he ran.

He was going to be expelled for cheating in the student body election so he left.
He was caught stealing bundles of the school newspaper that had the truth about him in it that day and he threw all of the bundles in a dumpster!

There is zero proof that he got a full time job with the Red Cross, a place he would never step foot in because it helps poor people and we all know how much he hates poor people.

We are they pretending that they don’t know all of this 4 years later?

Funny, but I don’t remember the WAPO being curious concerned about Obama’s college escapades.

    • ShelleysLeg February 13th, 2015 at 08:20

Nor George W. Bush’s drunken frat boy episodes. Although there are plenty of people in Houston who have stories.

    • allison1050 February 13th, 2015 at 08:33

      Short term memory problems?

    • jasperjava February 13th, 2015 at 21:41

Escapades? Like becoming editor of the Harvard Law Review? Like graduating Magna Cum Laude? Those kinds of escapades?

Meanwhile, try to find one of Dubya’s college achievements that doesn’t involve cheating, bullying, or alcohol.

He has the ‘look’ of alcohol fetal syndrome, so even with a light course load, he would have a difficult time with school.

Out of all the students around the country why would the Red Cross single this 1 out and offer him a job? Who’s supposed to believe that?

    • ShelleysLeg February 14th, 2015 at 08:21

I asked my friend, who was a regional head of RC, that question. She said the ONLY way that happened was if he had a friend, high up in the organization.

Obama’s friend, convicted felon Tony Rezko helped him get that sweetheart land deal for his house in Chicago. Bill Ayres lived down the street and Obama had numerous dealings with him. As for Tricky Dick, Obama has out – nixoned Nixon with his going after reporters and unleashing the IRS on folks amongst other nefarious actions. He is the worst of the worst. As for defamation, Obama is a public figure and can’t be defamed. The Feds already know my opinion of the man and they can find me any time they want, but as far as I know freedom of speech still stands.

    • ShelleysLeg February 13th, 2015 at 15:01

Oh what horrors!! Lives LOST!! The sky is falling!! NO one has ever made a sweetheart deal on a house in the history of the world!

Honey bunch, I worked for the IRS branch in Austin, one of FIVE major centers and they don’t go after anyone without cause.

Certainly not you baggers although your ‘politicking’ violates the rules from the get go.

Since you have a computer, why don’t you educate yourself and READ up on what the IRS rules for 501 (c) (3) designations for a very long time……you won’t though since it destroys your faux talking points.

Yes, you have your freedom to look like a horse’s ass all you like. Remind us of how many attempts Boehner has made at frivilous lawsuits so far?
