Obama Doing His Part On Inequality

The chart here explains who would win and who would lose under the proposals in President Obama’s State of the Union address.

The bottom 20 percent would see their after-tax incomes grow by around 1.2 percent, while people in the top 20 percent would receive -0.7 percent less.

Congress (sadly, in a bipartisan fashion) has already killed one proposal to address inequality, I’m not optimistic about the fate of the others.

It’s not Obama’s business to be doing anything about inequality in this nation when it concerns money and who has it and who doesn’t. His job is the run the affairs of the nation in accordance with the Constitution and make sure that everyone abides by the same laws.

And when the poor stay poor and the “wealthy” stay wealthy, will he want to take more? How much is “fair”? How much should the “rich” be paying in effective taxes, after all deductions are taken? What proportion of federal tax dollars should be coming from the top earners?

why should a middle class person pay 28% while a super rich person pays about 13%??

do those bastard rich really need that extra 5th car?

Why should a middle class person pay 28% and a lower class person pay negative 28%? I think that is a more relevant question.
