Republicans Now Stand Accused In A Benghazi Cover-Up

Posted by | January 27, 2015 15:30 | Filed under: Contributors Mark Quincy Adams News Behaving Badly Opinion Politics

After wasting so much time and money trying to pin the Benghazi disaster on Democrats, Republicans came up empty. Not content with that, they pressed on. That was a big mistake, because now they have been caught holding secret meetings and hiding information which (surprise, surprise) still doesn’t back up their conspiracy theories.

Last year, after Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) was tapped by House Speaker John Boehner to lead yet another Benghazi probe, he promised to helm an inquiry that would “transcend politics.” But now, eight months into this latest investigation, Democrats on the House Select

Committee on Benghazi have hit Gowdy with a sharp charge: that he and his Republican investigators have conducted secret meetings with witnesses without informing their Democratic colleagues on the committee. And they say that some of these interviews have yielded information that undercuts anti-Obama Benghazi allegations promoted by conservatives. In other words, the Democrats are suggesting that Gowdy has been mounting a Benghazi cover-up of his own.

Gowdy defends himself by saying that the investigation is fair even if conducted by only one party. He denies charges that political motives are fueling his never ending instigation. Democrats, bolstered by facts showing otherwise, remain unconvinced.

Chairman Gowdy claims that our letters “politically characterize sources private discussions with the Committee without proper context.” This is incorrect. Democratic members tried to resolve these issues privately for months before we were forced to go public. None of the witnesses told us that they wanted their information to be confidential or private, and we only released the portions of their statements that were necessary to explain our concerns…..

Chairman Gowdy’s rules package does not fix the problems we have identified with excluding Democrats from witness interviews. He has also refused to permit a Committee vote on any rules unless Democrats agree to vote for his language – thereby denying Democrats a public debate and vote on the issue.

What? The Benghazi investigation is slanted by a political agenda? I’m shocked.

This article is a dirty rag. It does not focus on the meetings importance like not getting to interview witnesses and it also is using Elijah Cummings lying talking points to point out Republican bias.

True, but honestly do you remember anything in politics but the last 8 years? You need to see who was attacked and by whom for the last 40 years.
        Then we can talk truth.

Really, uh however did I get here? Try it for three months, then get back to me and tell me what you think. Seems that MSNBC is dying and withering on the vine because no one is watching them. Because they lecture and lie. Try seeking out other sites, read both Conservative and Liberal, then THINK, use Critical thinking, something they try not to teach in school anymore, they want little dependent zombies following the left. Your future is what is at stake, don’t make the mistake of following blindly. I use to be a Democrat, until Bill and Hill. I am at times very ashamed to admit it. The last real patriotic democrat and true democrat for that matter was John Fitzgerald Kenney, who was more conservative than I am.

Oh Please, do you remember anything of the Clinton Presidency and the Hillary and Bill entitlement, these rules are for you not me, years. Did you just start drinking the democrat coolaide? How old are you, how many election cycles have you lived through? Do you ever really study anything but the positive lies put out about Democrats? Hypocrites, some might be, I am not, are all of you Democrats America Haters? Just this morning, Hillary dictates to her Sec. of State Employees, do not use personal emails to communicate, fires a Kenya Ambassador for using his personal email. Guess she didn’t want them to have the ability to hide things. Oh MY that’s right she has her own server in her basement in New York and used only her Personal email to communicate so she could do what, hide the truth from we Americans. Concerning her influence peddling for donations to her and Bill and Chelsea’s Foundation. Don’t think for one moment that foreign countries giving to these thieves is not for influence or special favors or support. Let’s talk about all of those old girls in Washington from California whose husbands have become millionaires from inside Washington information or sale of Federal properties, that no other person would have the ability to do or even know about. Or insider information trading on Wall Street, to buy influence. If anyone else does it the go to prison. Now that’s not at all hypocritical is it. And this is just what we have found out about. Laws and rules are for everyone else in this country, but Democrat politicians, now that is in no way hypercritical is it? Let us not get into a discussion of hypocrites or honesty OK. Try reading something besides this site for a change. you are being indoctrinated, it either happened in college or you are willingly out to join those trying to take your freedoms.

Thou dost project too much, Methinks!

Step out of the Echo Chamber knock off the Gish Gallup and try showing some sources, and fact checking for a change.

And if you supported Bush OR Reagan, OR the current GOP/Tea crowd, I wouldn’t talk about “freedoms”.

          • lowercaselettersonly March 6th, 2015 at 08:37

Bahahaha, you are so cute. You do the same, “step out of the echo Chamber knock off the Gish Gallup and try showing some sources and fact checking for a change” Bet me I haven’t done a whole lot of that a long time ago and do everyday. Unlike you apparently do. Old Lefty, no sense arguing or disagreeing with an old lefty, firmly indoctrinated in the old lefty of the seixties thoughts, free love and drugs for everyone. If you are talking about the patriot act, that is an old argument, not happy, but know why, and your side went along with it from the beginning.

            • OldLefty March 6th, 2015 at 08:53

You have to come up with some actual sourced facts.

For example, you claim that Hillary fired an ambassador to Kenya after he set up private email system but you fail to mention that he set it up in the embassy BATHROOM, and that he was forced to resign in 2012 after a scathing performance report.

              http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2981578/Hillary-Clinton-s-State-Department-ousted-ambassador-Kenya-set-private-email-Nairobi-embassy.html#ixzz3Tc5DWkoT

But why let facts get in the way??

Meanwhile, you really think that spewing stereo bumper sticker slogans about the 60’s to smear a debate opponent about who is a stranger and whom you absolutely nothing, provides any kind of intellectual heft to your argument?

              • lowercaselettersonly March 6th, 2015 at 14:48

If it hit too close to home Lefty sorry. I guess you are more intellectual than most in this world, carry it with you until you die, who cares.

          • lowercaselettersonly March 6th, 2015 at 08:29

Oh please. I was trying to sign into Disqus and every time I entered a screen name it denied it and underneath the sign in it said lower case letters only, so I entered that after many frustrating attempts, and miracle of miracles it took it. Eat dirt OK Burqa mean, that you are a Muslim Woman?

            • burqa March 7th, 2015 at 00:17

Since you failed to get the point, I’ll restate it:

Responding to a point by taking a cheap shot at someone’s screen name does not address, much less rebut the point made.
In this case, MastermindObewon is pointing out the long-established unreliability of Wing Nut Daily, which at best is an ideologically biased website and not a source for news or balanced analysis.
It would be nice if you could post facts and build arguments logically rather than the vague generalizations you’ve been posting that show anger, but fail to make solid arguments to support your emotional outbursts.

Benghazi, ACA, IRS. …..have blown up in their faces

      • lowercaselettersonly March 3rd, 2015 at 12:23

Oh really, perhaps if the Main Stream Media were actually doing their job those investigations would have ended by now. ACA, buddy, did you read any of that act? After the first eight pages you would have been pulling your hair out, the worst is yet to come. IRS, crooks, multi millions owed in taxes by IRS employees. They just found the lost emails, one stating from Lois Lerner – “no one will ever believe that both of our hard driver crashed within a two day period”, hmmm wonder what that means? According to IRS employees no one even asked them to try to find those lost emails. Hmmms nothing fishy there, right. Benghazi, only a lefty would believe the crap the White House has hidden about Benghazi couldn’t be important. Always remember Four People
Died, if you were one of those I would bet that you would be happy if someone tried to find out why. But then again maybe not.

        • Paul Shene March 4th, 2015 at 20:27

The MSM’s job is NOT to steer the popular opinion in a direction you feel is proper and traditional. Too bad you hate freedom.

          • lowercaselettersonly March 6th, 2015 at 08:10

No Sheet! Their job is to protect our freedoms, not to hide from all of America the truth. Had they taken the time to investigate this current president, his beliefs, his character we and this world would not be in the mess we are now. Rarely, if ever, did the MSM tell the truth about any democrat candidate. It is disgraceful, you will loose your freedoms if they continue. What is wrong with wanting a smaller government, less government control, less government in our business and lower taxes. You cannot make the poor man rich by making the rich man poor. You cannot destroy or tax to death business and expect them to remain in business. You cannot create your own business when the regulations are so stringent that no one can meet them, and if they do they are out of business in a year. Everyone cannot be on welfare, food stamps, and disabled when there is no one working to pay the taxes to pay for all of that free stuff. This country owes you and no one else a free living. If you leftist people don’t wake up the only ones living well will be your Dictator and his family and friends and you will not be able to do a thing about it. Join the people trying to save this country not trying to destroy it.
When you give someone what you think they need, you rob them of their own pride and self respect. AND they get use to it and become incredibly lazy. Content to stay drunk or stoned. Do you know anyone like that. I do, I have watched happen for years. IT AIN’T GOOD FRIEND.

What “truth” is being hidden about Benghazi?
              Please give specifics.

Please, if you are going to talk about business, first get some fundamental understanding about how it works, in this case, corporations. Do you have any idea what a corporation is formed to do? It’s often the first question the teacher asks in Business 101 when they cover corporations.

        • burqa March 4th, 2015 at 21:08

lowercaselettersonly: “Oh really, perhaps if the Main Stream Media were actually doing their job those investigations would have ended by now.”

As far as I can tell, the media reports were pretty much verified by all those investigations, so it appears they did their job.
          Whaya got that they missed?

          • lowercaselettersonly March 6th, 2015 at 08:25

The fact that they have ignored them, barely covered them tells me that there is something there and they don’t want all of the antennae people to know about it. Sadly, not everyone can afford satellite or cable anymore. So by not covering these investigations, no one ever will know the truth who are forced to watch antennae TV. Hmmm. You don’t suppose that is the idea, do you. Keeping the poorer people stupid and their children as well so that they and further generations can be more easily controlled? After all Democrat policy is to control everthing and everyone.

            • OldLefty March 6th, 2015 at 08:42

              1) What is “Democrat” policy??

              2) I think you are the one who has been a victim of the FoxNews/RNC Bengha$i BamboozlePalooza Extravaganza.

That is why David Frum said, “Republicans have been Fleeced, Exploited And Lied To’ by a Conservative Entertainment Complex”

Right wing media has become nothing but a racket to sell email lists to reverse mortgage and male pattern baldness rackets.

You know what Old Lefty, I use to be an old lefty until I saw what was happening too the party of John F. Kennedy and my grandfather. Communist/progressive/socialist/totalitarian/dictatorship does not appeal to me nor should it to any other American. I do not care what you follow, follow the far left to your death if you so desire. I will continue to believe in my Country and I will fight to save it and you know what I think good Ole John Fitzgerald Kennedy would say the same thing.

Meanwhile, today’s Democratic party is to the right of Eisenhower.

But then, YOU guys call Ike a communist as well, just as you would call JFK a commie, today.

As former Reagan administration domestic policy aide Bruce Bartlett said, President Barack Obama “has governed as a moderate conservative,”.

I don’t think you guys know Karl Marx from Groucho Marx.

          Four People Died at Benghazi.
Hundreds of thousands of innocent people died during Dubya’s War for Corporate Profits in Iraq, including over Four THOUSAND American troops.

Which is the scandal here? Why aren’t B*$h, Cheney, Rumsfeld et al in jail? Who is withholding the truth here? You’re just trying to drown your bitter hate in the Kool-aid, and not succeeding.
