Tom DeLay: Obama’s State Of The Union Address ‘Great’ In Laying Out ‘His Socialist Ideas’

Posted by | January 23, 2015 10:20 | Filed under: Politics Radio Interviews Top Stories

I kidded former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, urging him to agree with me that the president’s State of the Union address was “great.” DeLay surprisingly said, “actually I thought it was great…I just love the kind of address he gave. It just laid out his socialist ideas…” His point was that the president’s boldness should push Republicans to be bold in response.

DeLay talked about how unconstitutional the president’s ideas are, which means he also believes Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and other such programs are unconstitutional, but we’ve come to accept them in our society.  “Is all that that currently exists unconstitutional?” I asked.  DeLay responded, “Yeah it is.”

Amazing how they can vilify Obama for being a socialist and praising putin in the next sentence.

    • mea_mark January 23rd, 2015 at 10:27

You would think they worship cognitive dissonance or think it is a mental state similar to euforia.

      Putin would have them shot

Middle-class income fell… by about $2k. Inflation added to the decrease in real spending power, making the number above a tad worse over all.

Is it potus’s ‘fault’? Nahhh, not really his fault, manufacturing jobs of heavy industry left a long time ago, and that was what made a strong & large middle class. Until those and more high-end IT jobs come back & into play, this will be the ‘new norm’.

            Inflation Rate in 2014

now add up each years inflation, start at 2009 and go to 2014.
Butter around me used to be a shade under $2 a pound… it’s a shade over $3 now. And coffee(that really hurts), and beef, and fish…

              • edmeyer_able January 23rd, 2015 at 11:41

I know the math but please don’t throw butter into the equation when dairy farmers are getting price supports, people are paying 2.50 and up for coffee at starbucks so throw that out. When there’s a drought in the mid west or the price of feed goes up because the farmer put his land into a land bank those commodities in my mind can’t be included It’s all market manipulation.

                • Spirit of America January 23rd, 2015 at 19:56

If you know the math then you wouldn’t have used just one year.
Sure I’m going to throw butter into it, and other things that went up because, well, they went up.
People don’t care when they have to feed their kids why they went up, just that they did go up.
(And I meant bulk coffee for the house, not boutique by the cup. Never been to a starbucks.)

                      “coffee is an imported product.”
So? Still costs more, as does many things. Period.

That’s my point, address it and not side topics.

Prices have gone up on many day-to-day things, including food, yes or no?

I say yes. What do you say?

Your sight sent me to a page requesting a log in. Post a site comparing inflation data for what ever period you wish then compare that with a similar period for any other potus. I believe you wont see any difference or it will be negligible.
But I see that you wish to blame the economy on Obama while ignoring the damage that Bush did. I think we are through here.
                Have a nice weekend.

“But I see that you wish to blame the economy on Obama while ignoring the damage that Bush did.”
I didn’t mention either. I didn’t bring blame into it either. This is strictly a matter of fact:
Prices have gone up in last few years(as is normal) while median income has gone down. Period, it is as true as 2+2=4.

I find it sad/laughable that you think that admitting to a simple fact will somehow ‘condemn’ your side or something and so by he|| or high water you won’t admit to a fact even if it makes one look foolish; it won’t, it is reality. You are sooooo partisan you won’t even admit what everyone knows is true:
                  Prices have gone up.

” I think we are through here.”
                  That may be best.

    • Spirit of America January 23rd, 2015 at 11:12

Absolutely nothing… because no pure system is perfect. The trick is to stop before ‘a little socialism’ is ‘too much socialism’, just as in when ‘too much free market(no regs)’ turns into ‘too little free market(too many regs)’.

DeLay is something of a is disgraced has-been, although his comments are indicative of how the right uses words like “Socialism” and “socialism” to describe Democrats focus on helping the lower and middle income groups, instead of them. I guess he and his fellows must be feeling a bit left out these days. :)
