ISIS Executes Gay Men, Stones Adulterers
Click here for reuse options!These are obscene images. They depict two men thrown from the roof of a building as a crowd watches them fall to their deaths, and they purport to show the Islamic State (or ISIS) carrying out public executions before an audience in Iraq’s Nineveh province.
The two victims’ alleged crimes? They are believed to be gay. In another photo, [a] woman accused of being an adulterer is stoned to death, and two men charged with thievery are bound to crucifixes. Victims are commonly crucified, sometimes after they have been killed, in ISIS public executions.
ISIS-affiliated social media feeds began spreading the images Thursday. Those accounts linked to a justpasteit.com file attributed to the “Information Office of the mandate of Nineveh,” an apparent propaganda arm tied to Islamic state press releases. The public executions appear to have taken place in Mosul, the capital of the Islamic State and Iraq’s second largest city sits in Nineveh province.

It’s the scientists who get together every week to collect and send shiploads of clothes, food and needed supplies to the needy here and abroad!

I don’t see the homeless shelters where I live staffed by scientists. I don’t see the food pantries being run by scientists. People I know who take food and supplies out to homeless camps in the woods aren’t scientists, either.
Down at the St. George’s soup kitchen, it’s not scientists filling trays with good, hot food.
Same with a big coat and blanket drive that takes place here in the fall.
Same with an effort called “Christmas in April” where large crews show up at the homes of poor people and do landscaping, light carpentry, plumbing and electrical repair and they’ll paint the whole house in one day.
It’s not groups of scientists doing any of that.
It’s people of faith.

How about taking the challenge others here seem loathe to try?
Google your local interfaith council and a half dozen or so local churches and see what they are doing where you live.
Where I live, a lot of people aren’t aware that thousands of people every day are out serving those in need. Baha’i’s, Christians, Jews, Buddhists and Muslims are all pitching in. Over 3/4 of the food pantries are being operated by faith-based organizations here, and one finds people of faith acting on their faith running the homeless shelters. It’s pretty scary when it gets really cold, knowing there are people not in a shelter, but who are sleeping on the dirt in the woods.
If you’ll bother to get involved with efforts like this in your community, you will come across large numbers of people of faith doing the same thing.
It can reaffirm one’s faith in humanity to see so many people doing so much for those in great need.
Seeing that love for strangers in action and being around it tends to burn bigotry to a crisp within one’s heart.
Care to take the challenge and get back to us on what’s going on where you live?

During the inquisition, if a man was just suspected of homosexuality, or if a woman was suspected of adultery, no proof needed, he/she was brutally tortured by way of medieval torture devices. Iron maiden, breast ripper, Jacob’s ladder, pear of anguish – pretty sick stuff. Sounds to me they liked to kill just for the thrill of it.

When it came to torture, the 20th century commies had all the old torture devices as well as electrically-powered power tools and far better organization.
Many were worked to death and their bodies were just tossed into walls being built on canals they built.
They used poison gas as well on towns and forests where counterrevolutionaries were.
The difference is the commies killed far more.

Somewhere in my notes on interrogation, I have a quote from a commie torturer who worked in the Lubyanka. The quote is something like, “Give me a pair of pliers and I’ll have any prisoner confessing to being Queen Elizabeth in 30 minutes.”
The commies would torture people they knew to be innocent. They had these quotas to meet, you see, and to be a slacker could mean the torturer would end up being tortured to death himself.
Many victims were worked to death and their bodies were just tossed into walls being built on canals they built.
They used poison gas as well on towns and forests where counterrevolutionaries were.
The difference is the commies killed far more.

Unlike the bible, the Koran has only one translation. There are different sects, but they all believe the same thing. And here’s an interesting fact. They know more about Jesus and his teachings than Christians. And unlike the way Christians view Mohammed, they have great respect for Him and his work.

Both are of the opinion that they should get to dictate your beliefs and behavior based upon that fundamentalism. Check.
Both frequently decry the moral failings of those that believe differently. Check.
Both use their fundamentalist beliefs as justification when calling for the killing of those they think aren’t “good enough.” Check.
Both appear to think that god is so powerless that he needs to recruit schmucks and schlemiels and psychopaths to carry out his work. Check.

The other day some cat here tried to tell me the Israelis were Nazis. He was serious and I think is still confused as to why I objected strongly and didn’t seem to understand why I didn’t view the Holocaust survivor I grew up with as a Nazi. After all, they rounded up his entire extended family and sent them to the ovens. He was the only survivor, but according to this guy here, this Holocaust survivor was a Nazi.
People like that then turn around and call conservatives “crazy.”

If you can’t see the string that connects rhetoric with deed, that connects the belief that God wants atrocities with committing atrocities, I have no idea how I could MAKE you see it.

On the other hand there is a whole army that has taken over large areas of 2 countries and has slaughtered thousands of people. As we see in the OP, crowds turn out to see people accused of being gay tossed off a tall building.

They really do see them as equivalent and you’ve got a job on your hands convincing them their fears are overblown. They’ve shoved all their chip to the middle of the table on fear and staying frightened. To keep that up they have to pretend that there is an army sweeping hither and yon in our fair land, tossing people off rooftops and mass-murdering large numbers of others.
It’s not enough to club Robertson & co.s ideas, they have to draw the most extreme implication possible. There’s just no sense of propriety or balance. They are so heavily invested on being terrified they can’t see straight….

Did you see the pictures of the two guys being thrown off the tall building? Murders like that, and previous mass murders by ISIS, including beheadings of journalists and aid workers are what brought ISIS to prominence in the news.
There is no equivalence between the murders carried out by ISIS and wacky fundamentalists here in America.
Good grief, this is one of the bad effects of the internet, in that we see such a lack of perspective or critical thinking to where some of us see no difference between people carrying out horrifying torture, maiming and murder of thousands of people and some kook evangelist in America.
I understand the occasional need for hyperbole, but use of the figure needs to be recognized as such, rather than be accepted as literal speech.
There is no need to go to such ridiculous extremes, because they not only undermine the argument, they undermine the credibility of the person making it.
The ideas of people like Pat Robertson, James Dobson, Franklin Graham and others can be opposed and rebutted successfully without resorting to wild-eyed fear-based fiction.
