Ferguson Police Officer Suspended After Calling Brown Memorial ‘Pile Of Trash’
Tom Zoll, Ferguson Police Department’s public information officer, was put on paid leave after referring to the memorial of Michael Brown as “a pile of trash.”
Click here for reuse options!The makeshift memorial was destroyed when a car ran over it on Christmas night. The next day, Zoll told KMOX News that the department had no plans to investigate because the flowers, teddy bears and other items were in the middle of the street.But it was his statement to the Washington Post which drew the ire of many. He was quoted as saying: “…a pile of trash in the middle of the street? The Washington Post is making a call over this?”
In a follow-up phone call, Zoll told KMOX News that the paper had misquoted and misunderstood him.
In a statement released Saturday night, Ferguson officials say that upon being confronted with the results of their investigation, Zoll admitted that he did in fact make the remarks and that he misled his superiors and the media, including KMOX, when asked about the contents of the interview.

The public face of the Ferguson Police Department calls the memorial a “pile of trash”, then lies denying he did so, then admits he did so, AND admits he lied to his superiors, and for his insensitivity and multiple lies he gets a paid vacation. Is that about the size of it? Oh yeah, that ought to really help build trust with the public, huh?

actually the Officer is on ‘unpaid’ leave.
Now would be the appropriate time for the City of Ferguson, County of St. Louis, State of Missouri and Federal Government of the United States to do a complete and thorough background check of the Officer for possible support, connections and/or associations with groups that are in agreement with the ‘master race’ concept. If so, he should be confronted and barred from any and all government employee jobs that have anything to do with serving the general public, and possibly face charges of being a WHITE RACIST spy caught in uniform.

nothing bugs me more than “paid admin. leave” there should be no such thing. especially in a case where the “officer” admitted to lying. what’s the fk’n point of it? that’s not anykind of “punishment.” its a joke. just free vacation. how many of those does one get before they actually get suspended w/o pay. how many unarmed citizens do you have to tally before you get unpaid admin. leave? b.s.
