Christmas Open

Posted by | December 25, 2014 00:45 | Filed under: Top Stories

We’re not putting up much new content Christmas Day. Please use this post to put up your own, to wish each other good tidings, and to enjoy your fellow Liberalanders.  Christmas is the birth of Jesus, but it also transcends religion. It’s a time when we take pause, think about what’s important, and assume a spirit that is too often lacking the rest of the year. It’s a good time to reflect and to just enjoy the beauty of being.

    Today in history
On Dec. 25, 1990, the World Wide Web was born as computer scientists Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau created the first hyperlinked Web page.

When I was growing up in Florida .. Some people would leave their christmas lights and decorations up year around. I hope the reason was Christmas spirit.

“We’ve got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it’s going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it.”

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men.

Eternal is the Pow’r of Evil, and Infinite in its contagion! The Great Cthulhu yet hath sway o’er the minds and spirits of Men, yea, even tho’ He lieth chained and ensorcelled, bound in the fetters of The Elder Sign, His malignant and loathly Mind spreadeth the dark seeds of Madness and Corruption into dreams and Nightmares of sleeping men. – The Necronomicon of Abdul Alhazred, III: 17 [in the Translation of Dr. John Dee, circa A.D. 1585]
