Wyoming Man Shot By His Own Dog

A Wyoming man was shot by his dog. No, really.

Authorities say that Richard L. Fipps, 46, of Sheridan and two employees were trying to move a vehicle that had become stuck. Fipps was standing beside his truck as chains were being removed from the front of it when he was shot, The Sheridan Press reports.

He told his dog who was in the front seat of the truck to get into the back seat.

Laying on the back seat was a .300 Winchester Magnum with the safety apparently turned off.

The dog exercised his Second Amendment rights (shall not be infringed!) and  managed to discharge the weapon, which fired through the cab of the truck.

Fipps was struck by a freedom bullet in his left arm. The bullet traveled past his back and clipped his right sleeve without any injuries to his right arm.

Fipps was transported by ambulance to the local hospital.

Fipps may lose his arm. Due to the severity of the injury, he has been transported to a facility in Billings.

Authorities say the shooting appears to be “accidental”.

Stupidity is not accidental, folks. I’ve heard of the right to arm bears, but never dogs. The safety was on, really? Sounds like a candidate for NRA Shooter of the Month. Only way he could lose is if someone shoots Santa Claus.

I never believed all the rhetoric, but a good dog with a gun really does save lives.

300 Winchester mag. ? Holy crap. That was just a fragment of the bullet. He’s lucky he wasn’t hit dead on. That bullet leaves the muzzle at around 3000 feet per second.
