Former Governor Bob McDonnell’s Son Arrested On DWI Charge

Former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell’s son Robert McDonnell was arrested early Thursday on a DWI charge.

I suggest probing him. Hey, I meant they should question him, mmkay?

NBC Washington reports:

Robert Ryan McDonnell, 23, was arrested at about 3:25 a.m. in the 2500 block of Sandpiper Road in Virginia Beach.

McDonnell of Glen Allen, Virginia, was charged with DWI and refusal, said the Virginia Beach Police Department.

Police said he is not currently in custody.

Robert McDonnell’s twin brother, Sean McDonnell, was arrested in October 2013 and charged with public intoxication.

Their parents, Bob and Maureen McDonnell, were convicted in September on multiple counts for accepting more than $175,000 in gifts, grifts and loans from a wealthy businessman.

McDonnell is facing possibly 10 years in prison.

Although it’s doubtful the boys will spend any time in jail, it sure looks like Mom and Dad are going to see the inside of a prison.

The boys have it so tough now. Aw. Too bad, so sad. They’ve been demoted to “regular person”. Tsk tsk. Sic semper tyrannis.

Right wing media attacked the Obama daughters who are minors, for their attire at the traditional ceremony pardoning of the Thanksgiving turkey. So please take your self-righteousness elsewhere.

I have met former Gov. McDonnell socially and feel sorry for the family.
This is not to say they do not deserve punishment for breaking the law, obviously they do.
Many in the state were looking for McDonnell to play a major part in resisting the Tea Party, and now he’s out of the picture for that.
He and his wife had to admit to some pretty awful things that took place in their marriage, including her crush on this Johnnie guy who was the main one behind corrupting them. Their daughter, of course was caught up in it all and now their son has been busted for DUI.
Again, I’m not saying this absolves them in any way, but there is a human element we should not be blind to.
The whole thing reminds me of the protagonist at the beginning and end of James Michener’s “Chesapeake,” a politician who went to Washington with the best of intentions who became mired in a Watergate-like scandal and returned home to Maryland in disgrace.
It’s just awful, and tragic, for the pressures and temptations hit them where they were weak and thus their fall.

Can’t help it. A lot of dirty family laundry got aired and I feel sorry for them because things were already a mess in that household and it just got worse.
None of that excuses what they did and I’m not saying any of them should get a lesser sentence because of it, but I just can’t get totally cold-hearted about it, either, sorry.

        • raincheck December 19th, 2014 at 06:54

“A lot of dirty family laundry got aired and I feel sorry for them”
In my opinion… “airing their dirty laundry” was a ploy to get people to feel sorry for them… I think they knew a lot of their constituents, would relate to the things they did.. most likely they were counseled about what to say publicly, to gain sympathy….This happened out of pure greed… He threw his Wife “under the bus” which is probably where she belongs…
I’m curious as to how you met them socially? Are they part of who you hang out with?
I would consider, being forced against their will, to submit to an UN-necessary procedure, (vaginal probe),in order to get the healthcare they need” Should be considered “rape with a foreign object” I just can’t feel sorry for them… He took full credit for that… with pride.
I won’t knock someone like you who has a conscience

          • Bunya December 19th, 2014 at 13:49

Their constituents are quick to overlook their criminal behavior, as long as they preface their apology with “I’ve asked Jesus and my family for forgiveness”. Low information voters always fall for that “see what a nice Christian guy I am?” crap.

            • raincheck December 19th, 2014 at 22:59

Or as one of them put it recently “I prayed for hours over this with my Family” Or something to that effect. I’m talking about the woman that made the remarks about the Obama “children”

thank you. why does burqa feel sorry, i don’t know why. they were in the best place they could be and they did this to themselves. we are all falible for certain, but what they did was comit intentional criminal acts. that’s not a mistake. then burqa goes on to say, “…Johnnie guy who was the main one behind corrupting them.” that’s the typical response we hear from the right, its not my fault, he’s the blame for me being corrupt. b.s.
