Rick Perry: ‘Running For The Presidency Is Not An IQ Test’

Welcome to the world of low expectations.

“Perry’s moving out of the governor’s mansion in January,” when his term ends, says MSNBC political correspondent, “but in the meantime, he’s hosting top donors and supporters here for dinners to give them a sense of what his political future might be.”

“I think over the course of the last two years, people, you know, they realize that what they saw in 2011 is certainly not the person they’re looking at in 2013, 2014, 2015,” Perry said, explaining his poor performance in the last presidential election.

The reporter asks, “And are you smart enough to be president of the United States?”

“I think the standpoint of life’s experiences. Running for the presidency is not an IQ test. It is a test of an individual’s resolve. It’s a test of an individual’s philosophy. It’s a test of an individual’s life’s experiences. And I think Americans are really ready for a leader that will give them a great hope about the future,” Perry replies.

Not an I.Q. test? Well the last Republican slate of possibles proves that.

Moving out? There’s a nice comfortable prison cell with your name on it Governor.

Good thing for him he’s not given an IQ test because he would score VERY low. GWB low. Michelle Bachmann low. Sarah Palin low. How low can you go?

    • Larry Schmitt December 11th, 2014 at 13:50

Any one of those is pretty low. If their score were a limbo bar, you couldn’t get under it.

I wouldn’t say “low”. I’d say adequate for the American voter’s expectations.

The IQ test should be applied to the ones who vote for these idiots.

We already had our low IQ president and we will be paying for his stupidity for generations to come, not to mention the hell his VP has caused and forced us to deal with.

In some ways, Gov. Perry is absolutely right. Running for President or any other high profile elective contest is more popularity contest than an IQ test.

The point is though that actually doing the job of President of the United States is most definitely an IQ test.

    I can see it now.

Senior adviser notifies President Perry, we have shut down those 3 departments as you requested, Education, EPA and Defense.

President Perry responds, did I say “Defense”? I meant Energy. No wonder the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs called me an idiot this morning. Oops….
