Senate Staffer Tries To Remove ‘Torture’ From Wikipedia Page On Torture Report

Posted by | December 10, 2014 21:30 | Filed under: Mark Quincy Adams News Behaving Badly Opinion Politics Top Stories

There is nothing wrong with torture, it seems, except the word itself. At least that is what’s implied by a brazen attempt by an unidentified Congressional staffer to change the Wikipedia page on the CIA Torture Report. This is not the first time someone in the Capitol has been caught trying to manipulate facts on the popular reference website. I guess some in Washington simply can’t handle the truth … being on Wikipedia.

An anonymous Wikipedia user from an IP address that is registered to United States Senate has tried, and failed, to remove a phrase with the word “torture” from the website’s article on the Senate Intelligence Committee’s blockbuster CIA torture report. The unknown individual has attempted on at least two occasions — first on Dec. 9 and then on Dec. 10 — to remove a line describing the CIA’s enhanced interrogation techniques as “a euphemism for torture.”

How many of the 45 unidentified repub Senator staffers work for GOP Senators thinking they’re running for POTUS?

Ted Cruz is the top TX GOP dingaling who thinks this helps cleanup his TX image. Runners up: Marco Rubio dimmest pretend candidate & never gonna ballot Rand Paul.

Such dishonest idiocy seems to be part of the new playbook, . Remember when Virginia’s legislature commissioned a $50,000 study to determine the impacts of climate change on the state’s shore, but ordered words like “climate change” and “sea level rise” be omitted from the study’s text?

America tortures its enemies. It’s an absolute fact. Making us no better than them. Moral high ground? No fcking way, not anymore. Any enemy of ours who also uses torture can point to us and say ‘See? We’re no different from the Americans.’

Thanks, GW. Thanks, Cheney. Thanks, Rummy. Thanks, Condi. You’ve made Americans around the world less safe because of your actions. How patriotic of you………

      Tortured.
      Past tense.
Without the legal opinions that gave cover to it, anyone torturing a prisoner is liable to be prosecuted and sent to prison for a long time.
One thing the CIA and military have learned is to make damned sure they have legal cover as well as written memos and such to be sure that those ordering this stuff are also liable.
      It’s over.

        I fervently hope you’re right.

CHUCK TODD: You think the president would be shutting down the government?

      GOV. BOBBY JINDAL: Oh, absolutely.

CHUCK TODD: So you do want Republicans to fight him on this to the point that it could shut down the government?

GOV. BOBBY JINDAL: Absolute– I don’t think the president should shut down the government.

CHUCK TODD: But you’re twisting my question.

GOV. BOBBY JINDAL: But wait, wait.

CHUCK TODD: That means you want that kind of showdown?

GOV. BOBBY JINDAL: Let’s step back and understand what we’re talking about. So the president said, “I want to break the law.” He purposely said I’m going to wait till after the election, because I know it’s not going to be popular to grant amnesty to millions of folks here that are here illegally. We had an election. He said his policies were on the ballot.

Guess that’s what Bush meant by,

“When University of Michigan social psychologist Norbert Schwarz had volunteers read the CDC flier, however, he found that within 30 minutes, older people misremembered 28 percent of the false statements as true. Three days later, they remembered 40 percent of the myths as factual.

Younger people did better at first, but three days later they made as many errors as older people did after 30 minutes. Most troubling was that people of all ages now felt that the source of their false beliefs was the respected CDC.”

Well it is obvious they are trying to remove torture from all vocab pertaining to actions taken after 9/11. I have seen multiple people being interviewed and after every other word they would interject the phrase enhanced interrogation techniques. And they all just love to claim how much better the EIT is better than Obama’s drone usage, as if bush didn’t use drones.
