‘Hands Up, Don’t Shoot’ On House Floor

Several lawmakers made the gesture on the House floor to protest the shooting of Michael Brown.

“Hands up, don’t shoot. It’s a rallying cry of people all across America who are fed up with police violence,” Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said as he took the floor. “In community, after community, after community, fed up with police violence in Ferguson, in Brooklyn, in Cleveland, in Oakland, in cities and counties and rural communities all across America.”

Jeffries added that people are fed up with injustice, a broken criminal justice system and “continuing to see young, unarmed African-American men killed as a result of a gunshot fired by a law enforcement officer.”…

Joining Jeffries was Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-N.Y.), Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) and Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), who praised the handful of St. Louis Rams’ players for also making the “hands up” gesture as they entered the field for their game Sunday night.

It would be interesting to see all of the minority members of Congress enter the chamber with their hands up one day.

The GOPTPers are going to cancel that this time. The President of the United States and Leader of the Free World is no longer welcome to visit the elected members of Congress after the new batch is sworn in…

keep em scared and submissive and all the hand waving won’t change anything-the evil at the top, whether a cop or a politician, is yours to own and fear but I doubt, without real efforts, anything will be altered.
