Ferguson Mayor: No Severance Package For Darren Wilson

Posted by | November 30, 2014 13:44 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

The mayor of Ferguson, Missouri, said that police Officer Darren Wilson will not receive a severance package as part of his resignation from the police force. The 28-year-old officer who shot an unarmed black teenager dead submitted his letter of resignation on Saturday.

The Associated Press reports:

Mayor James Knowles said Sunday that the St. Louis suburb and Wilson have severed their ties and that Wilson won’t receive any further pay or benefits following his resignation Saturday.

Wilson’s lawyer says Wilson resigned because threats had been made against other officers and the department because of his continued employment.

A grand jury on Monday decided not to indict Wilson for killing 18-year-old Michael Brown during an August confrontation, sparking widespread demonstrations.

Neil Bruntrager, Wilson’s attorney, said on Saturday that there may be talks held on the issue of the former police officer’s severance pay, but that appears to have been shot down.

Good. You shouldn’t be rewarded for killing an unarmed person. Now if we can just get a federal trial going …

What? No workers comp? No compensation for that fractured eye socket, and all those facial injuries?

I still want to know which “friend” of Wilson’s punched him on the right side of his face. Shouldn’t be too hard to find out. Who is left handed?

      • mea_mark November 30th, 2014 at 16:40

I have been wondering the same thing. It would be awfully difficult to get punched there while in a car through the driver side window. Things certainly don’t add up.

My thought is that it has to be someone left handed. Check out the left handed friends. OR he may have hit himself just to make it red.

Why would he get a severance? At 28 he’s only been on the force a few years. What kind of scam would it be if someone becomes a cop, kills an unarmed kid, gets surrounded by controversy, then quits the force and walks away with a bucket full of tax payer money?….

Meanwhile, real heroes from 9/11 are still trying to get their medical bills paid…

    • mea_mark November 30th, 2014 at 18:37

It would be republican KKK scam that was supported by the NRA and the Koch brothers. Thank goodness there is enough public pressure from the good people of America to stop it.

It seems to me that a totally free pass on murder is quite a parting gift.

Whaddya mean no severance. He’s been on full pay for the last three months, doing nothing.
