Dog Takes Bullet For Family And Saves Child

An man shot bullets into an Atlanta car that was filled with children. The family’s German Shepard jumped in front of them to take a fatal bullet.

Witnesses say the shooting began with road rage and ended up with the gunman following the SUV to a strip mall on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard.

“About five minutes later, they pulled back through,” said one of the victims, who asked not to be identified. “They just rolled right up; they pulled a gun out and started (shooting).”

There were at least three children in the vehicle, along with their mother. Bullets flew through the windows, leaving shattered glass inside the SUV and on the ground.

“They hit the back of his car (with bullets),” said the victim, who was uninjured. “The dog, I guess, jumped in front of the bullet to save one of the children and the wife.”

The dog could be seen in surveillance video trotting past one of the nearby shops after the shooting occurred.

“The dog took the bullet for the kids so the kids would be safe,” said one of the people who saw the scene play out.

Meanwhile, the dog had been mortally wounded in the gunfire. He ran behind a building at the scene and later died.

It’s pretty freakin bad. I’m not sure that the good we humans do outweighs the bad.

Although a nice take for the story, I doubt that is what really happened. Sadly, the dog was probably just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Although, I would like to see a follow up to tis story, that they caught the bastard. I am real curious to know if legal gun owner, or criminal.

If only the dog had a gun…
He could have saved everyone from harm…Right?

If trained properly, they are a hell of a shot.

It just takes one good dog with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun.

Really, I’m crazy about dogs and have had many very intelligent ones…but no dog understands guns or the concept of “taking a bullet”.

How could we trust a media which promotes this sort of off-the-cuff cute rubbish by airing it? The Fourth Estate is supposed to be the means for us to keep our democratic freedoms, but in practice they are constantly peddling entertaining nonsense.

I hardly think that “legal gun owner” and “criminal” are mutually exclusive.

If you read this version listed here. It sounds like a cold hearted asshole followed a family off the highway and then proceeded to open fire. But the read this, and then it looks like, they were never the target at all. Still sad, but just a different perspective.

“A dog was shot and killed Friday afternoon when an incident of road rage escalated to gunfire, Atlanta police said.

Hobart Austin told police he was a passenger in a car driving on Cascade Avenue when a driver in a Ford Taurus nearly hit the car he was in, according to Sgt. Greg Lyon. Austin told police he then argued with the other driver.

After being dropped off on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, Austin said the driver of the Taurus threatened to shoot him and then fired shots, Lyon said.

Austin wasn’t hit, but bullets hit a white Chevrolet Suburban occupied by a woman, three children and a dog, Lyon said. The German Shepherd, identified by family as Noah. was shot and died at the scene, he said.

The Suburban and a nearby business were damaged by gunfire, Lyon said. No other injuries were reported.

No arrests had been made late Friday.”

The gunman was a out of control lunatic, period

      • Larry Schmitt November 30th, 2014 at 06:27

Correct. None of those details change the fact that the shooter fired several shots, and hit a car not involved in the dispute. He’s still an asshole.
