WaPo: Wilson Violated Protocols

Posted by | November 27, 2014 16:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Top Stories

Officer Darren Wilson violated various protocols according actions described in grand jury testimony.

Wilson left the scene of the fatal shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown, the officer returned to the police station unescorted, washed blood off his hands and placed his recently fired pistol into an evidence bag himself.

Those actions, described in grand jury testimony, violated protocols for handling a crime scene and securing evidence, according to experts in policing procedures and Justice Department documents.

Wilson’s movements after the shooting were among a number of police actions in the aftermath of Brown’s death that experts said were unusual. The grand jury transcripts revealed, for example, that the officers who interviewed Wilson immediately after the shooting did not tape the conversations. The transcripts also showed that an investigator from the medical examiner’s office opted not to take measurements at the crime scene and arrived there believing that what happened between Brown and Wilson was “self-explanatory.’’

One has to wonder how these violations affected the outcome of the grand jury investigation.

A shooting suspect — even a police officer — must be cordoned off in a controlled area and stripped of his clothing, his weapon secured by investigators, and must be escorted by officers if he leaves.

“An officer driving himself back? Wrong. An officer booking his own gun into evidence? Wrong,” said David Klinger, an expert on police shootings with the University of Missouri at St. Louis who is also a former police officer. “The appropriate investigative procedures were not followed.’’

You right wing racists don’t deserve to be called Americans.

  2. tiredoftea November 27th, 2014 at 17:36

Just keep blaming the victim. Fear mongering among you racist pukes works like that.

  3. Republicans_are_Evil November 27th, 2014 at 17:36

Wow, you are going to be banned fast.

  4. tiredoftea November 27th, 2014 at 17:36

He was on his way to college, you ignorant, racist puke.

  5. Republicans_are_Evil November 27th, 2014 at 17:37

I predict you will be banned within the hour if you keep up this dehumanizing hate speech.

    • tiredoftea November 27th, 2014 at 17:38

      Done now!

      • Republicans_are_Evil November 27th, 2014 at 17:39

I should have predicted it within a shorter period of time.

  6. Republicans_are_Evil November 27th, 2014 at 17:37

    Pure racism.

  7. tiredoftea November 27th, 2014 at 17:37

You’re done here, you ignorant fuck. Go back to whichever white racist site you usually troll.

No wonder the murderer never filed an incident report as required by law. Klansman Wilson’s only injury is a mosquito bite!

    • mea_mark November 27th, 2014 at 17:28

I thought it looked like he was bitch slapped by his girl friend when she found out the father of the child she is carrying killed someone without reason.

      • Republicans_are_Evil November 27th, 2014 at 17:38

I was reminded of the injuries George Zimmerman had. Self inflicted in the case of this cop too?

        • mea_mark November 27th, 2014 at 17:46

Or intentionally inflicted by someone else to make it look like there was a struggle when there really wasn’t. That’s why it looks like he was bitch slapped, that was all anybody would do to him to make him look like he was in a fight.

          • Republicans_are_Evil November 27th, 2014 at 17:54

It is becoming apparent every police officer needs to have a chest cam that they do not have the ability to turn off.

            • mea_mark November 27th, 2014 at 18:52

Actually they should have two. No excuses about it’s broke or the battery died.

              • whatthe46 November 28th, 2014 at 01:26

                Then we’ll hear how they
                forgot to turn it on.

I thought it looked like he was bitch slapped by his girl friend when she found out the father of the child she is carrying killed someone without reason.

Edit to add: He did leave the scene and wasn’t supposed to. Was that to see his girlfriend who also works on the force? Is that where the injury really came from? If you want to throw some doubt into the events that are supposed to have happened …

None of this matters when the outcome was already preordained

    • GreatLakeSailor November 27th, 2014 at 22:58

It lays bare the mechanism used and the people who did it. It gives us a road map on how to fix this and what to monitor more closely. That’s something.

      • Ron Jackson November 28th, 2014 at 00:14

That all sounds good, but I have seen this movie before, I know how it ends. Everyone talks change, but talk is all that will happen. This is America, the police will always will have the right to freely murder black people without fear of consequences.

        • GreatLakeSailor November 28th, 2014 at 00:40

I fear you’re right. I hope you’re wrong. If my country is going down as a Racist Fascist Police State – and every indication is that were pretty much there already – then I’m gonna be a real nuisance.

Wow!! Lots of deleted comments. Someone was obviously full of hate/anger or whatever.
The actions of the Grand Jury were a joke – or should I say how they were manipulated. The true story of this will eventually come out and Darren Wilson will be proven to have – how shall we say it – overreacted? This young man should not have been killed.
My sincere best wishes to his family.
I am assuming Wilson realizes he will never have a “normal” life. He will be marked forever.

    • Republicans_are_Evil November 27th, 2014 at 17:04

We had a real obnoxious right wing troll spam his hate. He didn’t actually last very long at all, but made quite a mess.

      • mea_mark November 27th, 2014 at 17:19

I go out to the garden and pull some weeds and the weeds pop-up here, go figure.

        • Republicans_are_Evil November 27th, 2014 at 17:22

As a society, we need to pull the right wing weeds.

And let the Sun fry their roots so they can never grow again then throw what is left in the compost bin and let it return to its primordial elements to be used again in its pure form free from the evil toxins they produced.

            • Republicans_are_Evil November 27th, 2014 at 17:37

I was thinking more like putting them in prison for the rest of their lives, but metaphors are tricky.

              • mea_mark November 27th, 2014 at 17:40

A prison in the desert without a roof might work …

                • Republicans_are_Evil November 27th, 2014 at 17:41

I hear we built several FEMA camps that fit that description.

I see no signs of an eye injury. In fact I don’t see any injury that warranted DW to shoot MB down like a dog. No justice in this grand jury mockery…

    • whatthe46 November 28th, 2014 at 01:20

      Considering he said that
brown hit him 10 times in his testimony then 2 times in his interview. Which is it?

So we pretty much know what happened in the Michael Brown incident. Brown fought with Officer Wilson and tried to escape. WIlson shot him from a considerable distance and then lied under oath. Then the DA covered up the killing and refused to prosecute. Three wrongs still don’t make a right.
