Darren Wilson Tells George Stephanopoulos Why He Shot Michael Brown

Posted by | November 25, 2014 23:30 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

Darren Wilson explained that he believed his life was in jeopardy.

“As I look back at him, all of a sudden punches start flying,” he told Stephanopoulos. “He threw the first one and it hit me in the upside of my face.”

Wilson repeatedly referenced “Hulk Hogan” when describing how powerful Brown was.
“He was very large, very powerful” Wilson said.

“I didn’t know if I’d be able to withstand another hit like that,” he added.

Wilson maintains that he warned Brown repeatedly that he would fire if his instructions were not followed. At that point, he alleges that Brown said he was “too much of a p***y” to shoot and made a grab for the officer’s firearm.

“While he’s doing that,” Wilson said, “I can feel his hand trying to come over my hand and get inside the trigger guard and try to shoot me with my own gun.”

It was after this exchange that Wilson told Stephanopoulos he finally opened fire.

The unarmed teenage jay walker said I “too much of a p***y” No Klansman can take that!

about like an armed neighborhood watch officer knocking a cell phone out of a kid’s hands then having to use deadly force to protect himself.

Unfortunately it doesn’t matter. What makes the shooting justified is that the law allows him to shoot if he feels his life is in danger. Wilson was apparently able to do just that. To get a different outcome the next time, you’ll have to change the way the laws are written. Using cameras or having more reliable witnesses are of limited good when the legitimate defense is how the shooter feels at the moment he pulls the trigger.

The laws are wrong no doubt about that. One law for them and another for us. Accountability and transparency need to be written into any laws that govern how peace keepers can and will operate. Anything less can and will eventually lead to corruption.

        • JeffreyPtr November 26th, 2014 at 14:28

The laws allow for anyone to kill another person under certain circumstances. They are the same laws for all, but they allow an individual’s state of mind and credibility to be considered.

You can write all the laws you like, but there are always going to be problems when the people themselves sit back for too long and fail to be active in their government.

The unarmed teenage jay walker says I’m “too much of a pus*y”, 6 foot 4 inch small Klansmen can’t take that! So I shot 11 times and Executed the kid from 35 feet away to where his body was found about 150 feet away from my car.

I watched an interview of the other kid that was with Mike Brown that day. Of course the ones who enjoy police brutality and over reach will call him a thug, But listening to him tonight and listening to that smarmy DA last night, this kid was a thousand times more believable and sincere.

This guy’s lies will be uncovered, at some point. Let’s hope there is a federal grand jury in his near future.

with a chubby Latino child stalker/murderer with a WHITE MALE Florida DL traveling around with a loaded gun, not likely, but nice wishfulness.
Either way, Resistance will pick up on them.

    • ChrisVosburg November 26th, 2014 at 00:50

I watched the interview and saw a man who believed what he was saying.

See, that’s kind of the problem, isn’t it?

      • tiredoftea November 26th, 2014 at 00:54

        Yes, it is.

if you lie enough to yourself, eventually it becomes the truth. a fed. d.a. can use this as evidence against should they choose to prosecute. as well they should.

I agree, he believes what he’s saying. Taking what we already know about eyewitness testimony, we can assume those engaged in any altercation will also have their own interpretation. Absolutely the best argument for body cams.

I have so much respect for Lisa Bloom, she explained how she would of dealt with this case on MSNBC and she was clear on how this entire case was a huge F.U. from beginning to the end.

      • tiredoftea November 26th, 2014 at 12:09

But, not in any legally meaningful way, yet.

Darren Wilson is pretty pale; I’ve seen punches on light skinned faces; his injury looks like make up more than a punch. Supposedly Brown was right handed, standing outside the car window while Wilson sat in his car when the punch happened. Why is the minor injury on Wilson’s right side of his face? There needs to be an investigation of prosecuting attorney McCollough and his manipulation of the Grand (Wizard) Jury.

    • Suzanne McFly November 26th, 2014 at 09:24

Amazing that he has the nerve to say the next punch could of killed him, I want to know where the evidence is of any punches.

      • 4-Q-2 November 26th, 2014 at 14:16

I guess pictures of a contusion on your face plus a swollen eye after about 2hrs of being assaulted are not good enough for the BLIND masses. It is claimed his eye was shut the next day

        • Suzanne McFly November 26th, 2014 at 14:48

Really? To you, that justifies deadly force? Swollen eye? Who are you suggesting the blind one actually is?

        • mea_mark November 26th, 2014 at 14:49

That doesn’t look significant in the least. That looks like he got bitch slapped. That should not be grounds for murder.

        • AnthonyLook November 26th, 2014 at 14:56

Demon punch? My grandmother would have left more of a mark.

          • mea_mark November 26th, 2014 at 15:01

His girlfriend could of done that to him when she found out he killed someone. She was probably already pregnant at the time and mad that he was causing problems that could extend throughout the entirety of their lives. He certainly would of deserved it.

    • mea_mark November 26th, 2014 at 10:33

I noticed that also. I would like to get a good explanation for that. It looks to me like that happened after Wilson was out of the vehicle.

Wilson didn’t even submit his version of these events until 6 weeks after the shooting. This would never happen in a more urban police department. You can be coached for 6 weeks and learn what your best defense is, I am hoping Eric Holder will go after this “cop”. Even after the Rodney King verdict the fed went after the cops and two served time so it has happened in the past.

    • mea_mark November 26th, 2014 at 10:39

With the way the rules are written and what they can charge him for, they would likely not win. However it would be a more open and transparent trial so the public would know what was really going on and might expose some of the corruption in the government in Ferguson and all the way to the governor. At the same time it would bring a measure of peace to the community, which is what it should be about in the first place. We live by laws so we can all live together, when laws fail to do that, what’s the point in having laws.
