[su_brk]Ferguson Grand Jury Reaches Decision

Posted by | November 24, 2014 13:52 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

A decision has been reached in the Darren Wilson case by a Ferguson, MO grand jury. The announcement is expected to come today from the St. Louis prosecutor’s office.

For the grand jury, the key question is whether Officer Darren Wilson, who is white, will face charges in the August 9 shooting death of Brown, 18, who was black.

Though the basic facts of the case — that Brown was unarmed when Wilson shot him — are not in question, the facts of the fatal moment are hotly disputed.

Supporters of Brown’s family back witness accounts that Wilson fired while Brown had his hands up in surrender. Wilson’s supporters say that Brown was the aggressor, had tried to take Wilson’s gun while he was in his vehicle and that the officer fired in self-defense.

The 12-member grand jury is deciding whether Wilson should be charged with any of several possible crimes, including: first-degree murder, second-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter or involuntary manslaughter, said Ed Magee, a spokesman for the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The grand jury can issue an indictment on any of those four charges. It also can add a charge of armed criminal action, authorities said.

I will always remember chilling in Liberaland and eating chicken nuggets when I think of the Ferguson verdict. (If there are any nuggets left in 5 minutes.)

no one is waiting for a verdict. waiting for a decision as to whether it goes to trial. that’s where you get your verdict.

I think he’s going to be indicted as he should be. I don’t think it will be first degree. I wait for all the evidence to come out. If there are eyewitnesses saying his hands were raised, and he shot him 6 times, there is no way they wouldn’t indict him. If they don’t, civil unrest in Ferguson is the least thing the country has to worry about.

Exactlly, but again black man white cop already fired once for violence and racism from Jennings

It all depends on what the Grand Jury was presented with.

      • tracey marie November 24th, 2014 at 17:30

or what was told to them. The “evidence” is not plain speak but in lawyer and cop. The huge file was dumped on the jury with no order, explanation or help. That is very unusual

        • whatthe46 November 24th, 2014 at 18:18

that’s a D.A. not carrying about the case.

          • tracey marie November 24th, 2014 at 18:20

he did not want an indictment

        • M D Reese November 24th, 2014 at 19:14

The whole thing was unusual after it came to light. Before that, it was just business as usual.

There will be less protesters willing and able to get violent as the temperature drops.

      • tracey marie November 24th, 2014 at 18:08

You assume that people who are afraid of the police force and fear for their very lives will fear a bit of cold weather

That seems to be a level forethought not shown by that government, so far.

Guess when the repubs finally agreed to some gun laws and restriction

If you said after reagan was shot you would be correct. Reagan was against gun regulations until he saw black men with long rifles, then they were a reality in California. St Ronnie, the gun and drug traffiker is also the father of gun control laws

Lawyers on TV are saying they never seen a D.A. conduct a GJ like this before. Looks like the whole thing has been rigged to benefit the cop. Everyone should be concerned if what’s going to be found is not an indictment but how corrupt the criminal justice system is….
