Environmentalists Protest Pipeline At Mary Landrieu’s Home

Posted by | November 17, 2014 12:15 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

You expect a Republican to be against the Keystone pipeline, but not a Democrat. And that’s why activists protested in front of Senator Mary Landrieu’s home, given that she wants a vote quickly so she can show that she’s against it, too.

According to a source on the scene Monday, protesters are standing in the yard of Landrieu’s East Capitol Street home holding signs opposing the pipeline. Protesters also brought along a mock black plastic pipeline. The source said Capitol  Police and D.C. Metro Police are on the scene, but appear to be letting the protesters stand in Landrieu’s yard anyway.

The protest comes as Landrieu, trailing in the polls with her Republican opponent, is emphasizing her support for the Keystone pipeline ahead of her run-off in Louisiana next month.

Republicans say Landrieu is using the issue to try to save her seat. The Keystone pipeline would carry oil from Canada to oil refiners on the Gulf Coast, including in Louisiana.

However, the oil is sold on the international market and will not affect prices in the United States.

And then the oil is sold overseas by Canada and not a drop for US consumption….how does it feel to be used instead of being the user..

Sadlly, most Americans that are for it think it will benefit us. So I doubt they realize that they are being used or that we’ve behaved badly in the global community.

American not Murikan. :-) But it is awful hard when you have people like Palin, Bachman and Carnival Cruz on the political stage to win that argument. When my own Governor makes headlines for offensively dumb statements. sigh. I would laugh too.

Sure, why not? It’s well deserved.

teabaggers do not understand independent thinking, after all the all walk in circles bleating the same sound bites of hate and stupid

        • Anomaly 100 November 17th, 2014 at 15:27

I don’t get it. Aren’t we supposed to call bad behavior out?

          • tracey marie November 17th, 2014 at 15:37

I am happy she was the “victim” of a protest, she lost because she lied and denied who she is and who supported her

            • Anomaly 100 November 17th, 2014 at 15:55

Agreed. Never hide from being a Democrat, otherwise, we’ll be all up in that.

        • Jus'speakin'th'truth November 17th, 2014 at 16:49

“independent thinking”… LOL! Yeah, they’re protesting because Landrieus is NOT voting in lockstep with the hive.

          • tracey marie November 17th, 2014 at 16:50

lol, or becauise she is pandering to save her job. the pipeline is a debacle of no jobs, horrible pollution and nothing ,ore then a corporate giveaway. Canada voted AGAINST shipping that stuff across their country, they knew it would poison everything

    • Obewon November 17th, 2014 at 14:36

They’re at her house to lay a leaky pipe full of Toxic sludge! Poisoning her water supply and land is so worth “50 permanent Jobs!” China gets the oil, USA gets the shaft and Texas is stuck with all of Canada’s acidic Bitumen toxic poisons. The Koch bros excel at sponsoring stupid, but this one takes the cake.

Poisoning her water supply and land is so worth “50 permanent Jobs!” China gets the oil, USA gets the shaft and Texas is stuck with all of Canada’s acidic Bitumen toxic leftover waste poisons.. The Koch bros cornered the market in sponsoring tea party stupids, but this KXL expansion to a 2010 opened pipeline takes the cake.

Next-up: The Greedy Oil Party can’t pay for this KXL expansion without pumping consumers above $85/brl. And U.S. Oil fell to $75/brl ( WTI :) http://www.bloomberg.com/markets/commodities/futures/

Someone should dump a truck load of tar sands in her front yard, and in the house…sure she’ll see it as a wonder for Murika.
She is a political paid-for-service professional, giving the Koch Bros the jollies they so desire.
