Rick Perry: Next President Won’t Be A Senator
Click here for reuse options!Perry, speaking to Brietbart News in an interview published Sunday, had just finished an extensive rebuke of the leadership of President Barack Obama – a former senator from Illinois – when he was asked whether he believed another senator would succeed Obama.
“If you’re in the Senate or if you’re in the House, you can give a speech and then go home. Governors can’t. We have to govern,” Perry told Breitbart. “And the president of the United States, historically, has had to operate that way, too; the ones that were successful. And one of the reasons why this president is not successful is because he’s never had that experience.”
Perry’s words echoed those of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who told “Meet the Press” Sunday that governors make better presidents because they are outsiders to Washington and are used to getting things done rather than talking.
Walker, too, is expected to seek the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.
