Blackwater’s Erik Prince Blames ‘Ambulance-Chasing Lawyers’ For Lawsuit

Blackwater founder Eric Prince defended his company’s behavior, but wouldn’t tell me if he believes the four former employees of his former company are guilty as charged. Four were convicted and jailed last week in the 2007 shooting in Baghdad’s Nisour Square.

COLMES: There are court documents that were filed, two employees of yours, unnamed in the documents, said that you wanted to start a religious crusade against Muslims. In an affidavit in a Virginia court, one of them said, “Mr. Prince views himself as a Christian Crusader tasked with eliminating Muslims and Islamic faith from the globe.” It goes on to say that, you want to respond to that, go ahead.
PRINCE: Sure Alan, your researcher should dig a little deeper into the case that that was filed in because the judge, the federal judge that was all part of the so-called whistle-blower case, and the federal judge found that the plaintiffs has so little basis in standing in their claim that it not only threw it out but made their lawyer pay our legal fees. So that entire case was throw out. It was without basis, it was all nonsense. And in some kind of cases like that, the equivalent of ambulance chasing lawyers file some ridiculous claims as part of their PR assault…

COLMES: These are people who worked for you. One of them accused you of, they said people in Blackwater would openly and consistently use racist and derogatory terms for Iraqis, brag about going over there to get the “ragheads.” We’re talking about the culture of the company.
PRINCE: Again Alan, you’re citing two so-called whistle-blowers whose case was completely thrown out by a federal judge and the defense, their attorney had to pay our legal fees because it was so scurrilous and such nonsense. So the fact that you’re bringing it up now, based on a completely nonsense case, diminishes your standing as a journalist.

Maybe if ACORN had gone to Iraq, killed people, then changed its name, Congress would not have defunded them. That strategy certainly worked for Blackwater.

The current corporate incarnation of Blackwater continues to receive millions of tax dollars through its government contracts. Meanwhile the lying right wing hypocrites who were the driving force behind defunding ACORN over some bogus voter registration cards, say not a word.

So don’t worry war profiteers. If your employees go to a foreign country and commit criminal murder, your profits from American tax dollars will be safe.

On the other hand, let this be a warning to you “community organizers”. Any group which works to register voters in neighborhoods which tend to vote Democratic, will have its funding yanked at a moment’s notice.

Obeying the law to turn in all registration cards regardless of content, gets your group de-funded

On the other hand, commit murder and the tax dollars will keep flowing in. Just have to do a bit of corporate bookkeeping and get a fancy new name.

    Only in America. .

Prince can’t have it both ways. He employed these individuals without, imo, properly vetting them, especially psychologically. Sure, he’s pissed that a jury found them guilty, and he needs to accept that the jurors found there was enough evidence to convict them. There’s no doubt that they were in a very dangerous situation in Iraq and that some of them “broke” under pressure, reacted illogically, which is what led to them killing innocent Iraqi citizens out of fear. He might not like that some of his former employees were found guilty, but he, like they, must accept it. The jury has spoken.

“Why Alan, I was doing god’s work. I’m a chrisitan soldier in the finest tradition of the Crusades. And, god knows the truth, so I don’t recognize the courts legitimacy.” FTFY

No, Erik–the one whom you should blame for your troubles is the one you see in the mirror every day.
