Nancy Reagan’s Astrologer Dies

Joan Quigley, the astrologer who helped Nancy Reagan plan her husband’s schedule, has died at her San Francisco home at the age of 87.

Donald T. Regan, Reagan’s former Chief of Staff, claimed in his memoir that Mrs. Reagan kept Quigley on a $3,000 per month retainer. He said Quigley consulted with Mrs. Reagan up to three times per day on a private line to the White House.

Quigley told The Associated Press in 1988 that she was a “serious, scientific astrologer.”

Scientific astrologer is a classic oxymoron. But then, Republicans probably don’t know the difference between astrology and science.

    • tiredoftea October 25th, 2014 at 16:54

Sure they do. Astrology is the science of the sun orbiting the earth and science is the lies that libruls want to tell to their childrun.

Like all that climate change stuff. And those stories about astronauts going to the moon. And the earth being round. Liberal lies, all of them.

        • tiredoftea October 25th, 2014 at 17:49

That’s right. St. Ronnie destroyed that climate change lie when he proved that it was just cow farts. Libruls went nuts and started their left wing agenda against him and every other god fearing, Constitution loving ‘murcan!

Don’t forget EVIL-lution! As Paul Broun says, “lies from the pits of Hell”.

Good thing we have good Gawd-fearin’ Christian men like this on the House Science Committee.

But they think an oxymoron is a stupid drug.

There’s no such thing as a “serious, scientific astrologer”. Astrology is pure bunk.

We’re lucky that she was responsible enough not to tell the Reagans that “next week Mars and Saturn are in conjunction, a perfect omen for all-out nuclear war”.

Does this mean that Nancy was a worshiper of..””Satan””..?

Imagine for a moment if the current First Lady consulted an “astrologist”..
The right wing freakout machine would be in full gear.

Regan further claimed that, “Quigley was the third most important person in the world, after the President and Nancy. She really had a thing for Ollie North, you know”

Imagine if Michelle Obama was spending $3K per month on an astrologer. Or for that matter, if President Obama informed us that he could discern the intentions of a foreign head of state by looking into his eyes.

Virtually every criticism made of this President or his wife is a partisan, fundamentally hypocritical rhetorical exercise where the behavior being critiqued and condemned was not even an issue in previous administrations.

    • Larry Schmitt October 25th, 2014 at 17:17

Instead, Michelle is doing something much more frivolous, like trying to get American kids to eat better and move around.

Joan Quigley was the acting President of the United States during the last two years of the Reagan administration as Reagan slipped into the senility of Alzheimer’s Disease.
