Republican Congressman Refused To Debate Opponent So 3 Men Dressed As Chickens Took His Place

A Republican Congressman has refused to debate his Democratic opponent three times, so during the Colorado 5th Congressional district debate, three men dressed as chickens took his place.

Congressman Doug Lamborn is extreme. He has called the President a ‘tar baby’ and even suggested that military leaders disobey any orders from President Obama, their Commander-in-Chief. He’s not as brave as he feigns to be given that he doesn’t have the cajones to debate his opponent.

Democratic challenger Irv Halter said he asked Lamborn for three debates and never heard back, according to KRDO.

As for the chickens, Halter said, “We had nothing to do with setting this up but we certainly hoped while looking for a debate and hoping Mr. Lamborn would show up we decided to participate.”

Lamborn was pissed off and blamed Halter for the incident. “It’s unfortunate that my opponent seems to be involving himself in uncivil if not ridiculous stunts. To me it smells of desperation,” he said.

As it happens, Independent publisher John Weiss was behind the publicity campaign and political action committee that is publicizing Congressman Doug Lamborn’s refusal to debate his opponent, according to Indy Blog. Weiss said that many of the backers of the committee, Colorado Springs Citizens For A Congressman Who Won’t Chicken Out, are registered Republicans who choose to remain anonymous.

That is my Congressman, and once again, he’s made this city of Colorado Springs a national laughingstock, and I am EMBARRASSED. I’m doing as much as I can to get Irv Halter elected, I’ve had it with the right wing idiots in this city!

I bet people will still vote for Doug Lamborn even though he won’t debate his opposition.

Not me. I’m doing my best to send Lamborn packing!

Three chickens to replace a chickenshit Republican politician. Seems about right.

At least the 3 registered GOP chickens showed up to debate! Irresponsible Repubs can’t defend their statements. U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn of Colorado says he and others have met with generals behind the scenes and urged them to resign if they disagree with the White House’s military policy in the Middle East. (R CO-5) Lamborn is a member of the House Armed Services Committee. His campaign did not respond to an opportunity to clarify his remarks. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/corey-hutchins/congressman-urges-militar_b_5888826.html
