Republican Official: I Meant No ‘Ill Intent’ When Calling For A Military Coup Against ‘Domestic Enemy’ Obama

A Republican Missouri official explains that she used a poor choice of words in a post on her personal Facebook page in which she called for a military coup. How does one accidentally call for a military coup? According to Jefferson County Recorder of Deeds Debbie Dunnegan, she meant “no ill intent” when she referred to President Obama as a “domestic enemy.”

Dunnegan’s post read:

“I have a question for all my friends who have served or are currently serving in our military … having not put on a uniform nor taken any type military oath, there has to be something that I am just not aware of. But I cannot and do not understand why no action is being taken against our domestic enemy. I know he is supposedly the commander in chief, but the constitution gives you the authority. What am I missing? Thank you for your bravery and may God keep you safe.”

(my bold)

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the group Progress Missouri posted Dunnegan’s Facebook status on its website on Friday under the headline “JeffCo Recorder Asks Why Military Hasn’t Ousted Obama Yet,” saying that “Jefferson County voters deserve better.”

Dunnegan explains that she simply wanted to know what oath the military took to protect the country from enemies both foreign and domestic. It seems she had forgotten that she specifically referred to the ‘Commander in Chief.”

“I meant no ill intent toward the president. I meant no ill intent toward anybody,” she said.

“Something innocent and simple got twisted into a disaster because it’s an election,” Dunnegan said.

Oh yes, military coups and the assassination of our president is “something innocent.”

She said she’s received good and bad responses to the post.

As for how it could affect her chances for re-election, the paper reports that Dunnegan said, “I think it could hurt it as much as it could help it.”

Waters said she is stunned that her Facebook comments have generated a controversy. “I should have known better than to use certain phrases,’’ she said. “Maybe my choice of words was bad.”

I love how these red meat throwing Republicans use such strong language then walk it back while playing victim. I hope her hair falls out and she goes broke, ends up destitute and panhandling for money while scrounging through dumpsters for food in the worst of neighborhoods, without shelter. Perhaps then, she can reflect back to that time when she could have made a difference in this world, even a small one, but something meaningful. I meant no “ill intent” by that, just so we’re clear. I just wrote something “innocent” which I’m sure will be “twisted” because of upcoming elections.

Not a “poor choice of words” as it was intentional. One doesn’t have their hateful thoughts come out in spoken form if they do not actually think that way. It’s always interesting how the bigots justify their hate as regrettably spoken while they still profess their hate. If she truly regretted it, she’d step down from her public office that is to serve the people, not a segment of them.

You can’t keep calling it a poor choice of words when you make your living that way. Another politician’s non-apology apology.

She called for a military coup, and she referred to President Obama as a “domestic enemy.”

Just get rid of all these anti-American and anti-Government anarchist crazy nuts before they bring our country down.

They open their big mouth and say whatever they want, and when they are caught, they always claim ………. “no ill intent.”

We have laws and a legal process to deal with them. Our system also protects the rights of those falsely accused.
This woman was wrong, horribly wrong.
We should not repeat her wrong by calling for dealing with her and others by abandoning our system, denying rights and holding kangaroo courts.

Just as it is wrong for this woman to call for armed revolt, it is likewise wrong to call for our government to make war on our citizens, regardless of how nutty they are. It is also likewise wrong to call for us to “just get rid” of these people.
This is not the time to erase rights enshrined in our Constitution, either by this nitwit in Missouri or by those of us who disagree with her.

      • Republicans_are_Evil October 14th, 2014 at 21:50

No “enshrined rights” are going to be erased by enforcing our laws against right wing traitors.

        • burqa October 15th, 2014 at 06:19

I hope not. It is a good thing users here are not in power because we see them calling for just that sort of thing. Scoll up and you’ll see calls for deporting them, throwing them in jail without a trial, tossing them in Gitmo where prisoners were denied rights, and so on.
You yourself called for them to be thrown out of the country, didn’t you?
Someone else said they deserve little, if any protection under the law.
It’s kinda lonely being the only one here saying we should not go overboard in our reaction.

In another place someone called for war to be made on them, here in America. You agreed with that, didn’t you?

It’s kinda lonely being the only one here saying we should not go overboard in our reaction. We have a fine system for dealing with this and we don’t need to be denying rights. We see extreme rhetoric as being wrong when employed on the Right. It is equally wrong when employed on the Left.

    Why are we fighting ISIS?

We should be fighting these domestic terrorists who are in our own backyards.

“I just wrote something “innocent” which I’m sure will be “twisted” because of upcoming elections.” maybe she should re-read it. if she still finds it innocent, then clearly she’s too stupid to hold office in any manner.

As a life long citizen of Missouri..
I reject and admonish people like Debbie Dunnegan ..
She is a fringe element of tiny minority of what this state represents..
I feel disgusted that her hateful comments are publicly posted on the internet.

    • Republicans_are_Evil October 14th, 2014 at 19:39

      She represents the Republican Party.

‘People’ like her is the reason why we had state run asylums and or mental institutions before the feds stopped assisting the states (ala Reagone).. We have them out on our streets and we hope that they take their medications.. but alas that notion quickly failed. The seer in Reagones family (Nancy) must of enlightened him that his party was filled with screwballs, and to release more of them so they too could have more offspring…the crazies have more crazies. I say, re-open the asylums put them all in 8×4 padded cells and seal the doors permanently.
