12-Year-Old Houston Boy Brings Gun To School, Gun Discharges ‘Accidentally’
A firearm was “accidentally” discharged inside of a middle school classroom south of downtown Houston on Wednesday morning, according to San Antonio Independent School District officials.
Don’t we all feel better now?
The boy brought the weapon to school in his backpack, then placed the backpack on top of a table. The gun fired accidentally around 10:30 a.m., Price said.
The school was placed on lockdown for nearly two hours while police investigated the shooting.
When the boy was taken into custody, the school began to lift the lockdown but police said that would take some time to complete..
The owner of the gun has not been established yet.
Alarmed parents gathered at the football field after receiving automated messages from the school.
One unidentified woman yelled, “My son’s in there!”
If only the other kids had a gun…

I’m watching Terminator 2: Judgment Day, in which the bad terminator poses as a police officer, and I believe that is the perfect metaphor for a lot of these murderous cops: not afraid to kill innocent people, and with no feeling of remorse.

I agree, NW10. If I killed anyone, even if it was an accident, it would probably stay on my mind and in my heart for the rest of my life. I might feel a bit differently if I did it protecting myself and/or my family, but even in a situation like that, I’d still mourn the loss of someone’s life at my hands.

is it texas or do the mods here just pick on texas? Seems like an anomoly that texas place. :-) Also, do american handguns just sit around and decide to go off whenever they feel like it?

Texas is a huge state with a population over 26 million. That’s a lot of people and even if only a tiny percentage of them are nuts, (1/2 of 1% = 130,000) still a lot of people and a lot of stories.
To give you an idea:
The 4 states surrounding TX (NM, OK, AR & LA) all added together have half of Texas’ population. If you added the whole central portion of the US (CO, KS, NE, SD, ND, WY & MT) then those 11 states together would approximately equal TX population.
Nobody is picking on Texas, Texas is quite capable of being anomalous unassisted.
