Rep. Peter King: Send In Ground Troops

Posted by | September 21, 2014 16:24 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Top Stories War & Peace

Add Peter King to the list of right-wing war hawks.

“I don’t see how ultimately we can avoid putting combat troops on the ground in some capacity,” King said during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday.” “I don’t why the president says up front we will not put boots on the ground. Why take that off the table? Never let the enemy know what we’re not going to do.”…

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), who serves on the Intelligence Committee with King, said the president was right to stand up to his military advisers. He’s rolled out legislation last week that would force Congress to vote on whether to authorize Obama to use military force in the fight against ISIS; it would also sunset the military authorization passed by lawmakers immediately after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

“I want a president who is not going to accept everything the military says uncritically,” Schiff said on the same program. “We have tried massive occupations in Iraq earlier and in Afghanistan, we’re in Afghanistan now 13 years later. We still haven’t solved the problem in Afghanistan. Do we really want to be in a position where 13 years from now we are massively occupying Syria and Iraq? I don’t think that’s what we want.”

I’m amazed that he doesn’t realize that no matter what the POTUS says today doesn’t not matter what we do next week or month or even tomorrow. And no that’s not a flip.

    Peter King…
Another voice demanding to “send in ground troops”…
The easiest way to silence these war hawks is…
“Obama declares he is going to send combat troops into Iraq and Syria”..

Watch the right wing reverse course and become doves by the droves…:)

Require that any yes vote on ground troops by any congressman with service-age children requires them to enlist, and be on the first plane over there as soon as they finish training. There will be plenty of time, we’ll still be there.

“Ground Troops”-‘O. K. I’ve said it too. Now where is my campaign cash!’-Rep. Peter King on GOP TV’s midterm election strategy payola requirement.

Americans have to realize that republicans don’t give a shit about American citizens. They don’t care about the country, they don’t care about the economy, the national debt, annual deficits, or human rights. They don’t care about your poisoned water or poisoned air. They don’t care about the dangers to your children, their health or education. They don’t want you to vote and are doing their level best to stop you from making things better for the middle class. Most of all, they don’t give a damn about sending your kid off to die on a whim.
Because republicans only care about power, money and maintaining the wealthy class within a bubble of their own contrived reality.

As usual, rich old white douchebags with nothing to lose are eager to put the lives of strangers at risk in the pursuit of fattening the value of their war stocks. This is the real Never Ending Story.

I agree. Obama SHOULD send in ground troops, and they should include Steve King, John Bolton, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Dick Cheney and a whole host of other bloodthirsty warmongers who like to scream for war, but are too chicken to fight in them.

    • fancypants September 21st, 2014 at 21:45

start the draft then take another poll…..
Im going to say this idea will be retracted very quickly

      • Bunya September 22nd, 2014 at 10:12

That’s a good idea, except the draft would only apply to certain people (blacks, poor people). The children of politicians and the filthy rich would be exempt from serving.

        • fancypants September 22nd, 2014 at 11:34

          Yea your probably right
if there are rumors going around about fixing electronic voting booths then the draft would be a flash in the pan / already decided who is going to the front of the battle.

Shiite Militias of Iraq Reject US Return, Threaten to Attack US Forces

The pan-Arab, London-based daily, “Al-Sharq al-Awsat” (The Middle East) reports that the major Shiite militias of Iraq are denouncing Prime Minister Haydar al-Abadi for welcoming US air support in the fight against the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
Prime Minister al-Abadi himself rejected conventional US ground troops for Iraq on Wednesday, even as Gen. Dempsey said that they might ultimately be necessary. The militias are going further, saying Yankees go Home altogether.
Hamza Mustafa reports from Baghdad that Hadi al-Amiri, head of the Iran-backed Badr Corps, warned that the American plan is to take credit for the victories of the Iraqi armed forces and the popular militias. He called for a rejection of the plan and dependence solely on Iraqi military and paramilitary to defeat ISIL. The Badr Brigades are the paramilitary arm of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), led by Shiite cleric Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim. Al-Hakim condemned the exclusion of Iran from the international coalition opposing ISIL. The new foreign minister, Ibrahim al-Jafari also objected to the exclusion of Iran . His party, the National Reform Trend, is close to al-Sadr.
