SCHMALFELDT’S SATYRICON: ‘Strategy? We Don’ Need No Steenking Strategy!’

After six years of the Obama administration, America has shown itself to have little patience for a president who doesn’t jump into the lake head first without knowing how deep the water is.

At a press conference Thursday, President Obama told a gathering of impatient reporters who want bombs and explosions and not excuses and planning,

“I don’t want to put the cart before the horse,” he said. He said news reports have suggested he is on the verge of an elaborate strategy for defeating the group without consulting Congress.

“That’s not what’s going to happen,” he said.

Of course, that was immediately interpreted as Obama saying America has no strategy for dealing with ISIS. Or ISIL. Whatever.

The first thing you learn on your first day of journalism school is, “the facts are not all that important. Getting readers or viewers. That’s where the money is.”

And which headline looks better to you?

It seems the American Press was more interested in the fact that Obama wore a tan suit to the press conference than in what he actually said.

Americans want action! They want a president who will leap into the fray, unprepared, not knowing how deep the water may be. If we destabilize the region even further? So be it. It will just bring us closer to that glorious day when our Lord and Savior returns from the clouds to whisk us to Heaven to live with Him forever.

Except for the Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Catholics and Mormons. The Mormons get their own planets.
