David Letterman gave a moving tribute to Robin Williams as he recalled their early days at Los Angeles’s Comedy Store.

The “Late Show” host talked fondly about the late comedian, who he said helped give him his big break with an appearance on “Mork & Mindy.” He recalled seeing Williams’ stand up for the first time, describing it as nothing he “had ever seen before.”

“We’re like morning dew, he comes in like a hurricane,” he said, of the comedian’s debut at Los Angeles’ Comedy Store in the 1970s…

“I am sorry I, like everybody else, had no idea that the man was in pain, that the man was suffering.” Letterman said at the end of a montage of Williams’ moments on his show – including over 50 appearances.

“But what a guy.”

A nice tribute to Mr Williams from Dave. It is still very hard for me to believe he’s gone. Like some kind of a cruel “joke”….
