Eric Holder Due To ‘Extraordinary Circumstances’ Orders Second Autopsy On Mike Brown

Posted by | August 17, 2014 11:43 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

Attorney General Eric Holder is ordering a federal autopsy to be performed at the request of Michael Brown’s family.

Holder’s office released a statement on Sunday morning declaring the “extraordinary circumstances” involved in the case have caused him to order Justice Department officials to perform a second autopsy by a federal medical examiner, according to Business Insider.

“Due to the extraordinary circumstances involved in this case and at the request of the Brown family, Attorney General Holder has instructed Justice Department officials to arrange for an additional autopsy to be performed by a federal medical examiner. This independent examination will take place as soon as possible,” the statement said.

The statement continues to say, “Even after it is complete, Justice Department officials still plan to take the state-performed autopsy into account in the course of their investigation.”

The state-performed autopsy concluded that the African American teenager died from gunshot wounds after his encounter with police.

I’m not sure where famed pathologist Michael Baden plays into this, unless this would make three autopsies to be performed on the teenager who was shot down by a police officer while his hands were in the air. Or perhaps the DOJ would oversee the autopsy.

Baden is to conduct a second autopsy on the body of Michael brown, according to family attorney Anthony Gray.

Baden testified in the trials of O.J. Simpson, Phil Spector and Drew Peterson.

Good luck in getting witnesses to come forward in a town which distrusts authorities due to racial tension which was instigated by the Ferguson police department.

But, at least there’s this:

Big thanks to @Mea_Mark, @CarlaAkins and @KnittingKnots for sending me links pertaining to Ferguson since the shooting happened.

The amount of hate I read on one of the FB pages of the local news channels here in Colorado Springs makes me want to vomit. Just outright negativity about Eric Holder being a criminal, and not liking the results of the first autopsy because it found the white cop innocent.

    • R.J. Carter August 17th, 2014 at 12:26

Is that what the first autopsy found? I didn’t think it found the officer innocent, merely confirmed that it was gunshot wounds that were the cause of death (which, honestly, even I could determine).

If the coroner finds 7-8 holes in the body, will that at least indicate wrong doing by the cop? Not to mention the entry wound in the back?

            • ChrisVosburg August 17th, 2014 at 15:29

Don’t know if that in itself would be enough, but I’ve seen a lot of cop and detective shows where the clever investigator reveals that the bullet holes in the victim’s shirt are a couple inches lower than the corresponding entry wounds in the victim’s body–

Which would indicate that the victim had his arms raised over his head when the shots were fired (go ahead, raise your arms and see what happens to your shirt). J’accuse, pork chop!

you’re being a bit too picky there, Chris – isn’t the word of the shooting officer good enough without having to question witnesses whose accounts may differ ever so slightly?
Q: was Michael standing on asphalt?
Q: is asphalt deemed a ‘deadly weapon’ in the USA such as concrete sidewalks if a black youth is standing on it?

                • ChrisVosburg August 17th, 2014 at 17:40

Sorry, not sure I understand the significance of the “asphalt” references. Perhaps your point is too subtle for me. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

depends on the State of Missouri ruling on asphalt being a ‘deadly weapon’ if a black youth is standing on it?

Let’s first see where the bullet holes are located, before we tackle the question as to how many bullets it takes to stop a 292 lb, 6’4′ man before he takes your gun away. Frankly, for me I’d like to make sure that when he gets close enough to me, he gets to take an empty gun.

            • R.J. Carter August 18th, 2014 at 09:38

What about if 6 holes, with all the entry wounds in the front?

    • ChrisVosburg August 17th, 2014 at 12:28

NW10 writes of FB blatherskites imagining Eric Holder: not liking the results of the first autopsy because it found the white cop innocent.

I think someone’s confusing “autopsy” with “coroner’s inquest” here. An autopsy establishes the immediate cause of death (gunshot wounds, in the instant case), but does not– indeed cannot, in and of itself– exonerate the police officer.

But a coroner’s inquest will attempt to determine, through examination of not only forensic evidence, but testimony of witnesses, whether a crime may have been committed.

Since the DOJ is conducting its own independent investigation, conducting its own independent autopsy is sort of a necessary first step in this.

If more police departments acted the way the feds did at Bundy’s ranch, we’d have a lot less dead kids. Shoot first, ask questions later doesn’t seem to be working for them.

Chief Jackson has already demonstrated a propensity to manipulate the evidence to support a specific, self-serving account of events.

If the authorities of Ferguson are sincere in their desires to defuse the tension in the community, then they should welcome an assessment of the physical evidence from the Justice Department.

    • granpa.usthai August 17th, 2014 at 16:57

depends on ‘how tight’ Federal Officials are with the locals, labman. After the FAILED WHITE RACIST ATTEMPT at overthrowing the US Government in Nevada, ALL friendships must now be held to question.

Eric Holder will NOT have autopsy done on White, Asian or gay KNOCKOUT KING victims or the people he helped get killed( American and Mexican) with his gun running operation to Mexican drug cartels known as Operation Fast and Furious.

    • granpa.usthai August 17th, 2014 at 16:39

WTF does that have to do with the wanton murder of black teens by law enforcement officials and those with white male Flordia driver’s licenses in the streets and backyards of America, WHITE RACIST?

    • ChrisVosburg August 17th, 2014 at 17:29

bobby writes: Eric Holder will NOT have autopsy done on White, Asian or gay KNOCKOUT KING victims…

I note that elsewhere, in company more conducive to casual racism, you have referred to this as “the Negro adventure called ” KNOCKOUT KING” where the coward attacks some unsuspecting not Negro person,” which is a lazy narrative conducted by conservative racist writers who cherry pick instances of assault, setting aside those consisting of black-on-white only as being examples of this, ignoring all others. It’s bullshit, and you’re full of it.

Further, what exactly would be the point of the DOJ conducting an autopsy of all assault victims in the US? Why would local autopsy be suspect? Again, you’re not making any sense.

Continuing, Bobby writes: …or the people he helped get killed( American and Mexican) with his gun running operation to Mexican drug cartels known as Operation Fast and Furious.

Not that it has any relevance to what is being talked about here by people who are not racist fools, you’ve been told before here by me that all investigations of Fast and Furious concluded that not only was this operation not authorized by Holder, there was also no evidence that Holder was even aware of it. Again, this was the brainstorm of the Arizona state branch of the ATF, and a continuation of the gun-walking programs begun during the Bush admin. It’s a simple fact.

And yet, here you are again, lying about it. Go home, you’re drunk, dummy.

I would feel much better if an international observation committee led by Hashim Nzinga were present at the autopsy. (just in case there was a problem with the minor details as in the covered up murder of Trayvon Martin – like why there was NO BLOOD LOSS found on the stalking child murderer, orientation of the body, how many shots were ACTUALLY fired – it’s the little non important things that ADD UP when taken as a whole). Like most citizens, due to the recent FAVORABLE VIEWS of African Korps Kapped Kowboys in Klivens Kowboy Kountry by notable WHITE US Senators, I’m finding it much more difficult to take the US Government at it’s “lawful word’.

I think that everyone needs to take a big step back and let emotions ease and investigations conclude before making any rash judgements.
