A 10-year-old Washington girl remained calm during a 911 call Wednesday morning when she told a dispatcher that her dad had shot her mom. The brave girl was even able to describe what type of weapon her father had, where her mother was, what shape she was in, and that her Dad isn’t supposed to have a gun. She was even capable to console her mother during that dramatic call.

The girl’s mother, 27-year-old Chante Marie Milian, was transported to a hospital where she is still recovering after being shot in the back by her estranged husband, 30-year-old Miguel Angel Milian who was found dead in an upstairs room after shooting himself in the chest.

Police were called to the home after being alerted by the the girl’s call.

The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office released the audio of the call on Friday.

“My dad’s shooting my mom right now,” she can be heard telling the dispatcher. In the background crying can be heard. The girl consoles and comforts her mom, KOMO News reports.

“Drink water, Mom. You’re OK,” the girl can be heard advising her mother.

The girl explains to the dispatcher that her mother is in the bathroom, and her dad is in his room and is still shooting in the house.

The dispatcher asks the girl if she still hears shooting.

The young girl said no, but goes on to inform the dispatcher that her father has a .22-caliber handgun that he’s not supposed to have.

“Even though it was a very traumatic event, she stayed calm and was able to provide her address and answer all the 911 dispatcher’s questions exceptionally well,” Sheriff’s spokesman Charlie Rosenzweig  said in a press release.

When the girl asks when the police will arrive on the scene, the dispatcher tells her they are in the area, but the police have to be careful.

“They have to be really careful, because you’re dad has a gun,” the dispatcher says.

That little girl is brave. She certainly kept her composure through the 911 call, and it would appear it wasn’t a trait she acquired from her father, that’s for sure.

What a gifted young person, staying so calm and informative. I hope she is able to recover from this traumatic episode and go on to do great things.
