Restaurant Offers 15% Discount If You Pray Before Eating

Mary’s Gourmet Diner in Winston-Salem, NC make it pay to pray.

Mary’s Gourmet Diner has an official policy of giving diners a special savings if they “pray publicly” before chowing down. The restaurant has reportedly offered patrons the holy discount for four years.

Last week, Christian music radio station Z88.3, Orlando, Fla. uploaded a photo of the discounted receipt to Facebook, causing the news to go viral and generate controversy.

Nearly 10,000 people liked the post with believers and atheists offering either support or criticism of the practice.

“Did she pray for a discount,” quipped one commentator…

Restaurant manager Mary Haglund clarified the policy to Fox News. “It’s about the whole idea of gratitude,” she said. “It’s not a religious thing, it’s a spiritual thing.” If someone is seen “having a moment,” Ms. Haglun said, the customer gets a randomly-offered discount.

        Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking of combining my ritual with open carry. When the lamb balks at being sacrificed I can 2ndA all over its wooly a$$ and continue with my supernatural appeal.

    Matthew 6:6 “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

    Those are the words of Jesus, I doubt he would be impressed with people praying before a meal just to get a discount on the price.

      I never impressed my parents either, I set the bar low as a young’en, they got over it, hoping jesus aint a grudge holder.
