Bibi To White House: Don’t ‘Ever Second Guess Me Again’

Posted by | August 2, 2014 08:41 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories War & Peace

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netayahu wants America to know he was right about Hamas and warned the White House to not ever second guess him by forcing a truce that he believes can’t work.

Following the quick collapse of the cease-fire in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the White House not to force a truce with Palestinian militants on Israel.

Sources familiar with conversations between Netanyahu and senior U.S. officials, including Secretary of State John Kerry, say the Israeli leader advised the Obama administration “not to ever second guess me again” on the matter. The officials also said Netanyahu said he should be “trusted” on the issue and about the unwillingness of Hamas to enter into and follow through on cease-fire talks.

Well, if he’s so right and with their economy doing so well, why in the f’ing hell are we funding his country. Go it alone if you’re so damn right!

last night on Bill Maher’s, he presented the same argument–why are we continuing to fund these industrialized countries–some of which technically are doing “better” than we are, currently?

i smell a distinct “turning inward” in the American consciousness…

Fine. Then we’ll keep all of those delicious dollars we send to Israel.

    • Tommy6860 August 2nd, 2014 at 09:43

Exactly, use it to actually fund the refugees at our borders. Feeding mouths and helping the needy goes much farther than funding bombing raids.

He’s right! It’s clear to me President Obama, god-bless him, is out of his depth in foreign policy. PM Netayahu enjoys over 80% public approval among Israelis and support in the US by an majority of Americans. Obama barley breaks 40% and the Congress is headed toward single-digit approval.

    • Anomaly 100 August 2nd, 2014 at 09:12

And you probably favored Putin over Obama, too, until he blew up a plane full of people.

You can have the neocons and their ‘poll’ numbers.

      • greenfloyd August 2nd, 2014 at 09:56

No! I remember clearly voting for Obama over Sara Putin.

Did she have a sex-change and blow-up a plane? That’s not very nice!

You can keep your neocons. But the “poll” numbers appear accurate.

    • uzza August 2nd, 2014 at 09:28

Josef Stalin enjoyed 83% public approval ratings among Russians in ’48, and he’s still at 49% today. God-bless him, he must have been a great guy!

It sure seems to me that the current political leaders of Israel don’t care too much for the covenant they are supposed to have with God. They see people outside the Jewish religion as something unimportant and not worthy of attention and care. The things they are doing are not in harmony with their core beliefs. If their is a break in the covenant then there should be no protection of the Jewish people. The people of Israel and the Jewish communities around the world need to do some real soul searching, they appear to have lost their way.

    • M D Reese August 2nd, 2014 at 12:20

You’d think that the Jews were the only people who’ve ever been oppressed. They and their defenders constantly bring up the 6 million Jews killed in the Holocaust, and totally ignore the other 6 million Gypsies, gays, “mental defectives” and others that were killed right alongside them.

White House to Bibi: “Don’t ever second party cash my checks again!”

    • Robert M. Snyder August 2nd, 2014 at 10:54

Those checks started flowing to Israel (and Egypt) when Democratic president Jimmy Carter brokered an agreement between Israel and Egypt know as the Camp David Accords. It is my understanding that many citizens of Israel and Egypt have had longstanding objections to this foreign aid because they don’t want the US to have undue influence over their leaders.

If Netanyahu NEVER expressed any opposition to US foreign policy, that would effectively make him a puppet. So what’s your objection? Do you object to the fact that Carter started the checks flowing or the fact that Netanyahu is not a puppet?

      Reference:

“The agreement also resulted in the United States committing to several billion dollars worth of annual subsidies to the governments of both Israel and Egypt, subsidies which continue to this day, and are given as a mixture of grants and aid packages committed to purchasing U.S. materiel. From 1979 (the year of the peace agreement) to 1997, Egypt received military aid of US$1.3 billion annually, which also helped modernize the Egyptian military.[22] (This is beyond economic, humanitarian, and other aid, which has totaled more than US$25 billion.) Eastern-supplied until 1979, Egypt now received American weaponry such as the M1A1 Abrams Tank, AH-64 Apache gunship and the F-16 fighter jet. In comparison, Israel has received $3 billion annually since 1985 in grants and military aid packages”

Our taxes also fund the operation of drones by the CIA over Pakistan and Somalia. The drones are used to hunt and kill terrorists, and sometimes innocent civilians get killed. It seems to me that the US and Israel are approaching terrorists in much the same manner. I have grave misgivings about our use of drones, so I understand your concern about Israel’s attacks on terrorists hiding in civilian areas and/or structures. I wish there were a better solution. But if Israel is wrong to go after terrorists in Gaza, then how can it be right for Obama to go after terrorists in Pakistan and Somalia?

The source has the provocative quote to provoke anti-Israeli backlash. I am not a troll, and I have supported liberal causes. The anti-Israeli vitriol has disturbed me on this site. It reads like no one feels Israel is justified responding to incoming rocket attacks or terrorists arriving through tunnels. I posted the articles because it summed up my views nicely.

        • Carla Akins August 2nd, 2014 at 10:11

You have an account with 4 comments, all justifying Isreal’s violence – one is simply a link from Global Jewish Advocacy. I’m pretty comfortable in the assertion we are not the ones with the extreme bias.

You’re right in the sense I do not post much and agree with most of this site’s articles. I just feel there is a streak of vitriol at Israel for its response to missile and other terrorist attacks. Attacks no other country would stand for.

            • Darren Champagne August 2nd, 2014 at 11:20

One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter. Remember that next time you call an ELECTED government terrorists. It is not justifiable to destroy Gaza just to stop them from firing rockets and coming through tunnels. What do you expect them to do when they have been under an ILLEGAL blockade for 7 years and face genocide by Israel? Them fighting back is perfectly acceptable in my eyes, Israel is more than capable of making precise airstrikes and blowing up the missile batteries, however that is not what they want to do they intend on destroying Gaza.

              • Kenneth MARGULIES August 2nd, 2014 at 11:41

The terrorist – freedom fighter is false equivalency. As for elected governments, hitler was elected. Hamas is under blockade not just from Israel, but from Egypt, due to their support of the Muslim Brotherhood. They are terrorists and have supported terrorist acts. And as for precise air strikes, if weapins are being housed in schools, and missiles launched from hospitals, would you have Israel ignore these attacks? Does not at least part of the blame come from Hamas using these locations and people as human shields? The analogy is of a gunman, who grabs a child to his chest and then starts shooting at children on a playground. What should a nearby policeman do? Ignore the issue?

What other country would put up with Israel “occupying” it for almost 50 years, blockading it to keep the people from accessing food and other necessities of life, and whose kill ratio so far has got to be about 500 or more Palestinians dead for every Jew that gets hit with a rock. Israel hasn’t been the victim since the Six Day War.

              • Kenneth MARGULIES August 2nd, 2014 at 12:28

Hamas charter says their goal is the destruction of Israel. What other country would not respond to missiles fired into their country? Stop the missiles and peace might have a chance. And talk of genocide is ludicrous. Palestinians hold office in Israel. Hamas bans Jews and gays and other minorities from existing freely, let alone holding office. You support these so-called enlightened leaders who are corrupt and rather than building hospitals and schools build tunnels for terrorists and spend millions on missiles?

              • Kenneth MARGULIES August 2nd, 2014 at 12:55

Israel does not occupy gaza. It has no administrative authority and there are no settlements in gaza. And wars since the 6 day war were often the result of an Arab attack. And if you want to pity poor gaza and Hamas for a blockade, look to Egypt, which has instituted a blockage because of Hamas support for the Muslim brotherhood. And Hamas would have plenty of food and money for its people if it weren’t run by corrupt billionaires sitting in other countries while spending money on needed cement for schools and hospitals to build reinforced tunnels for terrorists. It’s hard to plead poverty when ample funds are being spent on missiles and lining bank accounts.

I have an opinion – not at all on point. You are certainly not required to post comments, but when you do you had better be able to back them up. Especially one as strongly worded as yours.

Then you should copy paste the “provocative quote” from the article and not make people look for it. Then provide a link showing where the quote came from. If you want to say this article sums up my feelings about this issue and provide a link that is ok too. Just throwing a link out there like that is spamming.

The quote to me is obvious. It is in the headline.

” it summed up my views nicely”

If by ‘nicely’ you mean that you didn’t back up your claim, then I agree with you.

Just another perspective, with humor of course

Please show how this link you posted relates or are you just spamming? { Bull. He never said it. } —

Selling the country weapons and telling them not to use them is silly. We’re one of the big 3 in gun running, so excuse me while I dont feign outrage over war atrocities from other countries on our payroll.
My tax dollars help support their country because let’s face it, it ain’t because we like olive oil, perhaps another oil?
