Israeli Soldier Kidnapped As Ceasefire Crumbles
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces said “initial indication” suggested that 2nd Lt. Hadar Goldin, 23, had been seized while taking part in an operation to decommission a tunnel belonging to militants. Two other soldiers were killed in the attack. The Israeli military told NBC News that Goldin had been captured in the Gaza Strip, but would not confirm where exactly…
According to The Associated Press, the terms of the truce allowed Israeli troops on the ground in Gaza to continue to destroy tunnels along the heavily guarded frontier, but only those that are behind Israeli defensive lines and lead into Israel. Within two hours of the cease-fire coming into effect, dozens of Palestinians were killed by Israeli shelling in Rafah.

Hamas sees a chance to capture a soldier, forget about the truce, they hit the jack-pot. No surprise here. Hamas cheats and fights dirty.

The story I heard this morning about the abduction was that it was after another Hamas member came through the tunnels with a suicide vest on that he exploded near Israeli soldiers.

That’s what I heard, too. But in the article I read, both sides said the other was responsible. Naturally.

Hamas over played their hand. Thinking that a captured soldier would be a “Jackpot”! after the last exchange of 1000 prisoners for one Israeli Soldier, they must have been thinking the same thing. The problem is, the Israeli people will not go for that again. And after pulling this stunt during a supposed “Ceasefire”, there will be no more negotiations with Hamas. They just destroyed any chance for peace. And if they were not the ones responsible, and it was one of the splinter groups. It would be in theirs and the Palestinian peoples best interest to get a hold of that soldier and bring him to the negotiating table in good faith. Otherwise, I see a lot of death and destruction coming.
