Cantor: You Can’t Fire Me, I Quit!

Posted by | August 1, 2014 09:54 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is quitting Congress ahead of his previously-scheduled departure.  Maybe he got himself a higher-paying gig.

Cantor said he has asked Gov. Terry McAuliffe to call a special election for his district that coincides with the general election on Nov. 4.

By having a special election in November, the winner would take office immediately, rather than in January with the next Congress.

“That way he will also have seniority, and that will help the interests of my constituents (because) he can be there in that consequential lame-duck session,” Cantor said.

Never have I seen such a perfect example of the Peter Principal as Mr. Cantor’s rise to power in the GOP. He is a man who never had a principle in his life he wouldn’t throw overboard at a moment’s notice if he could find a different wave to ride. Say what you want about Boehner, but he has an actual set of principles (misguided ones) and has remained consistent through his political career. Cantor is all over the place and when ever the populous mood hit he was the first to pass out the pitch forks (like when he supported taxing Wall Street bonuses at 100% after the bailout despite the unconstitutionality of it). To me, his type of political gamesmanship is more dangerous than the Tea Party.
He used to his 10 minute resignation speech on the house floor to continue whipping up fear about terrorism and our lack of engagement around the world. That’s all he ever did was scare people. It was a shtick and nothing more.

Childish… he just did it punish voters by making them pick up the tab for a special election… he had nowhere to go in such a hurry before he lost… republicans are just evil like that.
