Virginia Christian Group Is Fasting To Oppose Gay Marriage, Except For That ‘Fasting’ Part

The Virginia Family Foundation announced a “40 Days of Prayer, Fasting and Repentance,” to fight back against same-sex marriage, but the only thing missing is the “fasting” part. You see, during this “fast” the members can still eat.

Maybe they meant drive fast, or walk fast, or my favorite: Eat a sammich fast.

Pink News reports the event which is a non-event:

“Join us for 40 Days of Prayer, Fasting and Repentance for Marriage from August 27 through October 5, 2014.
“Our 40 Days will culminate on October 5th just before the court begins their session.”

However, the group has since told members that they don’t actually have to give up food at all to take part in the ‘fast’.

They wrote: “We are asking the entire Body of Christ to join us for this feast – giving up physical food isn’t necessary – but feeding on the spiritual food provided is vital.”

As people don’t actually have to give up food to take part, the group opposed to re-defining the definition of marriage seem to be re-defining the meaning of a fast.

They have also made a mock ‘prescription’ to promote the event.

Here’s your “prescription” which will rid you of any gay cooties:

The group even created a creepy video but dollars to donuts (see what I did there?), they were shoving linguine down their mouths while editing this masterpiece.

“Virginia’s laws have always rightly reflected the true and complementary nature of marriage,” Victoria Cobb, president of the Family Foundation of Virginia said. “It’s unfortunate that the court rejected the right of Virginians to define marriage consistent with their concern with what’s best for children and society as a whole.”

If Victoria wasn’t so busy stuffing her face with pizza and barbecued ribs, maybe she could have stopped people in love from marrying. She was so close, too.

This post made me hongry.

Probably why that “abstinence only” thingy didn’t work out.

How can a person fast without really fasting?

I don’t know either, but it sure helps if you’re a conservative Christian!

It’s like Newt Gingrich practicing traditional marriage even though he’s been divorced at least two times.

It’s like eating a candy bar when nobody’s looking. If nobody sees you, it doesn’t count.

When confronted with phony, lying, hatefilled Christians like these, I think of the Amish schoolhouse slaughter a few years ago. Remember? The lunatic was so filled with hatred for women that he lined up tiny girls and executed them. Horrific, to be sure, and the response of the Amish was ASTONISHING! The members of the families of the murdered girls, went, as a group, to the home of the murderer, to make sure that HIS WIFE WAS NOT ALONE IN THE WAKE OF WHAT HER DEMENTED HUSBAND HAD DONE! They were concerned about the spouse of a man who had just erased the lives of their beloved, tiny babies. These people are a real Christian community, and I wish other Christians could demonstrate one tenth of the love, and faith that these Amish exhibited.

Meanwhile, the Phelps family went to the Amish community to assure them that their children were burning in hell.

Is there such a thing as a ‘thinking fast’? You know, where you don’t think for 40 days.

“Virginia’s laws have always rightly reflected the true and complementary nature of marriage,” Complement what? The word “complementary” means “completing something else or making it better.” Where’s the something else?

I’ve seen fasts that last until 6 in the evening before. But I haven’t seen a fast this loosely ruled since Jesse Jackson declared his liquid diet to be a hunger strike.
