They should. If they could do that here in the middle of nowhere small town Texas I would join them. It is time for the people to stand up for what they deserve. You don’t have to be in a union to demand fair treatment, just get with some other like minded people in a similar situation and get out there and do it.

If they get enough people, all with fast food experience, they could band together, open their own restaurant, and pay everyone $15 an hour.

Who’s going to finance the restaurant, the people working for minimum wage?

      • R.J. Carter July 25th, 2014 at 12:29

        Those are called ‘customers.’

        • Shades July 25th, 2014 at 13:03

Because start-up capital, rent, inventory, those are all free, right?

          • R.J. Carter July 25th, 2014 at 13:54

So… they need the 1%, but they need them on their own terms?

            • mea_mark July 25th, 2014 at 14:47

No, they don’t need the top 1%. They need the top 1% to pay more in taxes and keep the money flowing in the economy in stead of extracting it. The last thing we need is the top 1% like we have today.

Take a business class. Maybe they can explain it to you.

Get Michael Moore to do it. “INTEREST FREE”

Because start-up capital, rent, inventory, those are all free, right? Do you know any landlords willing to lease space without cash up front? I wasn’t aware customer money starts rolling in on day 1 of said lease, even before remodeling, clean-up and health dept inspections.

The states that have increased the minimum wage have seen job growth.

Why is President Obama the only president to have a minimum wage increase request blocked?

    • mea_mark July 25th, 2014 at 14:48

Now that is something that should be repealed or blocked.

      • William July 25th, 2014 at 14:51

Ahhhh, and that’s the beauty of it. Many years ago, our elected representatives passed a law that essentially gives them generous and automatic pay raises UNLESS they vote against it. They can with complete honesty return to their constituents and say straight faced “I didn’t vote for my pay raise”.

Ah yes, the ever vigilant beltway heroes. Protecting us from runaway wage increases and higher prices for everyone.

You might as well figure they will protest themselves out of a job. There will become greater automation, more self service lines, and more restaurants will close. Increase in labor costs will equal in costs to the consumer. It is a natural progression. If your costs go up, you ultimately have to raise prices, or change your business model.

    • mea_mark July 25th, 2014 at 14:53

Good, maybe people won’t eat so much fast food crap and live healthier lives. Ditch the fast food and totally avoid the automation, bottom of the barrel over processed crap full of chemicals fake food altogether.

      • Pistol-Packing July 25th, 2014 at 15:10

I didn’t say it was good food… Wellll, maybe on a midnight munchie run… =)

I am just always on the look out for the bright side.
