Conservative Think Tank Chief: Obama Should Be ‘Hung, Drawn And Quartered’

Posted by | July 23, 2014 15:33 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Top Stories

It’s not enough to impeach President Obama. He should be hung dragged somewhere by a horse, and cut up into little pieces.

A senior policy analyst for the Center for Immigration Studies, which bills itself as the think tank of the anti-immigrant Right, told a Florida-based Tea Party group last week that President Obama not only deserves impeachment, but that “being hung, drawn and quartered is probably too good for him.” …

CIS describes [Stephen] Steinlight as “one of the nation’s most insightful voices on immigration” who provides “expert testimony” for government panels.

Opined Steinlight:

A rash of opinion polls which have come out, not push polls, real polls, including one by Gallup that showed that 65 percent of the American people don’t want any part of an Obama-style immigration reform. But the idea of this [lawsuit] is vintage Boehner, it’s a political loser. There is no court that is going to stop Obama from doing anything. We all know, if there ever was a president that deserved to be impeached, it’s this guy. Alright? I mean, I wouldn’t stop. I would think being hung, drawn, and quartered is probably too good for him.

    Stephen, Stephen, Stephen…

    Sigh…

    It’s hanged, not hung.

    • edmeyer_able July 23rd, 2014 at 16:06

Stephen was proly thinking of a different image when he used the word ‘hung’.

that ought to have ‘traitors of the WHITE race’ flocking back to the GOP! After all, where the hell does it say you HAVE to help sick children fleeing torture and death in the US Constitution?

“Being hung, drawn and quartered is probably too good for him.”

I don’t believe he speaks for all conservative. I’m sure that the POTUS being hung, drawn and quartered would be more than satisfactory for their blood lust.

    • Dwendt44 July 23rd, 2014 at 20:43

I doubt that. Blood lust is never ‘satisfied’.

Throwing red meat to their dying 89% white GOP leaves the majority of voters asking ‘who that are still alive supports these bigoted racists?’ Repubs have driven away any moderates along with most everyone else exclaiming ‘Wheww. There’s the Blue lever! pulling a straight Dem ticket again…’

Throwing red meat to their dying 89% white GOP leaves the majority of voters asking ‘who that are still alive supports these bigoted racists?’ Repubs have driven away any moderates along with most everyone else, now exclaiming ‘Wheww. There’s the Blue lever! I might as well pull a 100% Dem ticket. Buh-bye GOP.’

I don’t mind being hung*, but I’ll take a pass on drawn and quartered.

    * Proper term is “hanged”. “Hung” means endowed.

    • m2old4bs July 23rd, 2014 at 16:33

Not necessarily. I see this often here and there and twice on this thread, but when I was in elementary school a long time ago, I was taught that the past tense of “hang” is “hung,” just like the past tense of “dive” is “dove” (long O not the bird) and for “drive” is “drove,” among other examples. It’s only been in the last decade or so that the past tense of these words has changed to hanged, dived, and drived respectively with the latter one appearing not quite as consistently as the former two. I see it all as a bastardization of the English language and another indication of the dumbing down of our education system. And please, don’t get me started on the modern day mis-usage of “who” and “that.”

I had always heard that pictures were hung, people were hanged.

        • R.J. Carter July 23rd, 2014 at 16:44

Exactly. When referring to the execution of a person, ‘hanged’ is the term.

      • Dwendt44 July 23rd, 2014 at 20:42

Hung as related to the male genitalia is a ‘slang’ term, not proper English.

That sort of rhetoric is inexcusable from anyone. I hope that a change of career(not of his own volition) is in order. Having been utilizing this site for some months now as one of my main news sources has shown me some of the things I needed to see about the right and it’s less desirables. It also serves as a balance for my own politics. I was in the bank cashing a check today and was chatting with the teller (oops, customer service representative) about news of the day. She began talking politics and a stupid comment not unlike the above rocket scientist came rolling out. I quickly chastised her for it but thought, what is more troubling, her saying it, or her feeling comfortable saying it to me. Reality checks hurt but are necessary tools in life.

First time that I’ve been able to give you a thumbs up. Good post.

There is good reason for some republicans to leave their party and look for alternatives.

    • Billy Jackson July 23rd, 2014 at 18:29

I think you do a good job expressing your opinion and providing an argument I may not always agree with, but can respect.

You’ve never resorted to “trolling” or name calling, and that’s all I can ask for. If everyone thought the same thing as me, it would be a boring world. It would also be a pretty crazy, f*cked up world if everyone else had the same outlook on things as I do. :-)

I couldn’t agree more. It’s mind-boggling how comfortable some people feel in saying this sort of thing.

Where does all this hate come from? Really, where?

    • nutsinavice July 24th, 2014 at 01:44

It comes from Lee Atwater, Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, and all the other operatives who decided to take a page out of the playbook of Tailgunner Joe and use character assassination as a prime political weapon, regardless of the truth. When Obama came along, the fact that he’s black was just icing on the cake. But, the hatred (which comes from years now of castigating liberals as unAmerican traitors) is merely a tool for the wealthy to pit the poor and middle class against each other, using the fancy words of “liberty” and “constitution” to a bunch of people who have no idea what they mean or what their grandparents fought for leading up to the New Deal. They have no idea what life was like for most Americans during the Gilded Age, which is exactly where the conservatives want to take us. There’s more, but that’s the cliff notes version.

    • fahvel July 24th, 2014 at 03:23

sadly I think it comes from the real soul of many americans who live in a dark age of hatred and insecurity and which situation has been exacerbated by the fear mongering introduced into the society by the l’il bush gang.

Its as if they’re tired of hiding their hatred for America’s President.
In a related note, watched 42 the other night, the Jackie Robinson story. Powerful movie, a lot of similarities of the hate that was directed at Mr Robinson and now Mr Obama. History will not be kind to the gop and those that let hate control their lives. I don’t remember the dudes name that wanted me to supply the evidence of the rights racist attitude, I’m quite sure he will not be denouncing this individual.
