The World Just Had Its Hottest June On Record

Not that this will convince the deniers, but…

The globe is on a hot streak, setting a heat record in June. That’s after the world broke a record in May.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced Monday that last month’s average global temperature was 61.2 degrees, which is 1.3 degrees higher than the 20th century average. It beat 2010’s old record by one-twentieth of a degree.

While one-twentieth of a degree doesn’t sound like much, in temperature records it’s like winning a horse race by several lengths, said NOAA climate monitoring chief Derek Arndt.

And that’s only part of it. The world’s oceans not only broke a monthly heat record at 62.7 degrees, but it was the hottest the oceans have been on record no matter what the month, Arndt said.

Hottest oceans on record with 401 PPM CO2 up +50% in 200 years plus every other climate indicator at 1.3 M year+ record levels! Even with sea levels predicted to rise by +3-to-6 feet by the end of the century with WW-II caskets floating the undead onto beaches, the Greedy Oil Party zombies still have their heads up their ‘Wasses. The deniers have already moved the goalposts. They used to deny that the earth was warming. Now they just deny that the causes are man-made.

After all, any red blooded American patriot knows that it is impossible for mere mortals to have an impact on the climate. Only Al Gore and commie pinko socialist liberals believe in such nonsense.

As with so many issues, right wingers contradict themselves in their never-ending pursuit of the only real belief I ever see them demonstrate; e.g. hatred of all things liberal and Democratic.

They rant against the “illegal immigrants”. Does it ever occur to them that the climate change they deny is happening, might be one reason people are leaving their agricultural vocations and coming here? To consider that possibility would require reasoned, thoughtful analysis. I do not see any evidence that the birth certificate/death panel crowd is capable of that.

In a café in a Pittsburgh suburb, a Mexican man in his 50s explains that his family farm in Chiapas, a southern Mexican state, would no longer produce. He chose not to reveal his identity for fear of immigration authorities.

“Long ago, we were able to plant more, but now the corn doesn’t grow as much. The plant doesn’t provide as much as it used to,” he said, through a translator.

The man left Mexico to find work in the United States. Today, he’s working a cleaning job at a movie theater and sending money home to his family members, who still live in Chiapas.

This is just one account of many. For a century, migration for economic opportunities has been a strong trend in Mexican culture.

“it was the hottest the oceans have been on record no matter what the month”. – This news is particularly bad because warm water holds less oxygen than cold water.
