As It Happens, Playing With A Gun On A Trampoline With Your Girlfriend And Infant Child Is A Terrible Idea
Earlier this month, an Alabama man shot and killed his girlfriend, but according to his mother, he was the victim of a “freak accident.” Jackie Quinnie, Raphiel Quinnie’s mother, told AL.com that the two were in a relationship and had been playing with the gun that killed Edwards while on a trampoline with their infant child.
Quinnie is charged with manslaughter in the death of 19-year-old Selena Edwards, who died from a single gunshot wound on July 14.
“I believe this really was a misunderstanding and a bad accident,” the defendant’s mother said. “I know they were playing over the gun . . . and he did not know the bullet was still in the chamber.”
District Judge Joe Basenberg granted Raphiel Quinnie a total of $18,000 bail on July 17th.
In addition to manslaughter, Quinnie is charged with second-degree receiving stolen property. According to prosecutors, the gun that killed Edwards was stolen, according to AL.com.
Jackie Quinnie said her son is “really freaking out” following Edwards’ death.
“He wouldn’t hurt her like that, they were in love,” she said. “It’s killing him.”

What !!! No Headline of “Man Second Amendments Girlfriend”???
No matter how you look at it, this is a shame. One would think, that even if you are playing with a stolen gun, you should at least still follow some basic safety rules. As always treat a gun as if it is loaded. And Guns are not toys…
But I digress and think that maybe this has something to do with the article “Citizens for Evolution” that I posted yesterday in a different thread.

Even my protective, loving mother, would have never defending this if I was in his place. She’d be all, “A stolen gun? For reals – a trampoline? Are you KIDDING ME!”

My parents would have left me in jail. In matter of fact, they did leave me in jail once…. Was out sailing with same friends when we were 16. Had some beers with us. Got stopped and were taken in. Cops called our parents to come pick us up at the station. My dad decided it would be a good lesson for me to sit there. Little did he know, we were not in a cell, but basically just on a bench within the station. 2 shifts later, The guys coming on are like “Who IS this kid” and can we please get him out of here.
Dad never did come… Chief of police drove me home… (Times were so different back then)

I wouldn’t have been bailed out either. I know that for a fact because a member of my family had to stay inside after making a very poor decision. Sometimes a person needs to be hit with reality.

I don’t see the stooping. This site asserts that there is an issue with gun violence in this country, I agree. However, the vast majority of gun violence occurs within crime ridden, gang ridden city neighborhoods where both the perpetrators and the victims look like Obamas son if he had one (his words). Yet RARELY are gun incidents involving minorities covered on here. What is covered is EVERY incident, no matter how remote, involving an inhabitant of a trailer with Dale Earnhardt curtains. I was simply pointing out the departure from the norm on here. While I appreciate the higher expectation, it shouldn’t be a surprise when someone highlights an undeniable skew.

First of all, you’re dead wrong. Secondly, I don’t post about gun deaths according to race. I post as they happen. If a child is involved, that’s usually the determining factor as to whether I’ll write about it or not. I don’t even think about race in that regard. Kids are collateral damage to irresponsible gun users.

I must be reading a different website then because young people (children) are gunned down on a daily basis in this country…daily and yet the preponderance of articles are the “man 2nd Ammendments himself” variety. If you posted gun deaths involving all young people as they happened, the site would balloon in size. I don’t imply any ill intention, I think you’ve gotten caught up in the “hey let’s make fun of the idiots with guns” on a site that has no shortage of folks who will high-five a good redneck story at the expense of the real issue taking lives everyday.

This is a sad commentary of what the NRA, Fox News, and the Right Wing talk media has done to people. What used to be obvious, these sources are telling their followers that it isn’t true and disregard all the logic. They are and instead of being able to make sensible decisions they trust the ones who betray them, sometimes ending in tragedy. I see right wing voters who know they are seeing their party go insane, but their misplaced loyalty to this horrible party is too strong and they just start walking away from discussion. I guess that happened in Germany in the 1930s and that didn’t work out very well.

* Said person violates every safety rule under the sun
* Has accident and shoots girlfriend while doing something incredibly stupid??
