Vladimir Putin Action Figure

Posted by | July 20, 2014 20:30 | Filed under: Contributors Dave Van Slyke Opinion Politics Top Stories

Wondering what to get your Republican friends for their birthdays or other special occasion? How about their very own Vladimir Putin action figure?

Think about it. There’s no one your Republican friends love and admire more than Vladimir Putin. Imagine the fun they’ll have removing Vladimir’s shirt and showing him off in their homes and offices.

“Wow! There’s a real leader!” they’ll shout with glee.

Be sure to buy one for each and every one of your Republican friends.

Vladimir is so small your Republican friends will be able to carry him around in their pants pocket. Then, each time your friends get together, they can pull out their little Putins and play with them for hours.

If you get your play doll set, you can put Caribou Barbie in her house and she can see Vladi through her window.

    • tiredoftea July 20th, 2014 at 22:04

I assume that Vlad will watch as Todd services her?

You can save some money on this. If you have a Fabio action figure, just cut off the hair and pretend you have a Vladi action figure.

Fascinating to watch and read as right wingers try to pretend their love affair with Putin never happened as they run away from their gushing love notes of just a few months ago. .

I think this is one of those moments of clarity for those on the left. Right wingers will deny anything that does not support their agenda of the moment. It does not matter how much factual evidence is presented. They will respond like petulant children, ignoring reality, stamping their feet and shouting no, no no.

Keep this mind as we continue to discuss the issues of the day. A significant portion of right wing America has no trouble at all in denying reality. This behavior clarifies a great deal on a number of issues ranging from the birth certificate to climate change.

Here is a blast from the very recent past. If we were to believe what this author wrote eons ago (that would be 7 months for us normal folks) supplying sophisticated weapons to lawless paramilitary groups to murder innocent civilians is all part of Putin’s journey of rediscovery of life-giving Christianity.

    Explains everything.

If Russia is going to have a future, he must figure, it must be built on organic Russian traditions, which includes Orthodox Christianity. Again, that’s just my guess as to what Putin is up to. With the Pussy Riot case, I wouldn’t suppose that Putin was religiously offended by what those punks did, but rather he believes that Russia’s rebirth depends on its rediscovery of a life-giving Christianity, which depends on rebuilding a sense of social respect for and trust in the Orthodox Church and its teachings. Orthodox Christianity is the only coherent basis for rebuilding the Russian nation from the ruins left by Bolshevism.

    • Eric Trommater July 20th, 2014 at 22:28

In all fairness they never really loved Putin. They just loved his homophobia and authoritarian militarism. As is always the case with conservatives though as soon as he no long they fit their narrative they are turning on him and eating him like a preying mantis after a bout of coitus.

      • arc99 July 20th, 2014 at 22:31

I will concede that love MIGHT be an overstatement.

However it is a fact that when you peruse right wing media, you will find literally hundreds of positive references to Putin by both website publishers and the participants in their comments forums.

On those same sites, you will find zero positive references to the current President of the United States. I take it back. In that context, love is not an overstatement at all.

        • Eric Trommater July 20th, 2014 at 22:35

They were just using him for their own perverted pleasures and now that they are done with him . . . oh sure they may text once in a while but you know how conservatives are now a days, they really can’t be tied down and,you know they are really going through a weird time right now.

      • fancypants July 20th, 2014 at 22:48

        the GOP eating putin ?
Never ! how can you eat a military / unimpeachable president like putin He is more like an Aztec GOD to them who could never be out done or replaced. However there is kryptonite in all this, our gop cant show this admiration in public or it would be political suicide

        • M D Reese July 20th, 2014 at 23:31

They actually believe that is they just don’t talk about it anymore, it never happened…

          • fancypants July 21st, 2014 at 14:07

Im almost encouraged to vote republican all the way down the ballot for that response, just to see if that’s true MD.

      • M D Reese July 20th, 2014 at 23:28

True. They ally themselves with those who hate the same groups that they do. It’s a twist on the old “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”.

“In all fairness they never really loved Putin. They just loved his homophobia and authoritarian militarism.”

I tend to agree. Their love of Putin was really a convenient prop to help spread their hate of President Obama.
