GOP Candidate For AZ Governor Has No Idea Why Militia Was Hanging Out With Him At Protest

A Republican candidate for Arizona governor told TPM that he has no idea why armed militiamen were tagging along with him on Tuesday at an immigration protest in Oracle, Arizona at the rally in opposition to the arrival of refugee children.

A group of armed militiamen were providing security for Riggs, KTVK reported.

The gubernatorial candidate and former Congressman told TPM  that he totally had no idea who the armed men were. One would think he might ask them, but whatevs.

Frank Riggs acknowledged the men were by his side during the rally and were guarding him but he did not ask for their assistance.

“There were individuals there who were dressed, outfitted as militia types,” Riggs told Talking Points Memo. “To be honest with you they followed me around, I guess thinking that they might provide some kind of security to me.”

At the hate-fest, anti-immigration protesters shoved a group of mariachi musicians and blocked a bus full of f YMCA children that they had mistaken for migrant children.

According to Riggs, the rally was a “mostly polite and respectful exchange of views” between both immigration activists and protesters.

“I neither requested them in any way, shape or form, I didn’t arrange for them to be there nor did I ask for their help or services,” Riggs said in the interview.

Riggs also said he didn’t take issue with the militia group’s presence at the protest. He defended their presence saying that the armed men had “as much of a right to be there as anybody else” and said he respected their right to carry concealed firearms under Arizona law.

“From what I observed they conducted themselves in a very appropriate manner,” he said. “They were very discreet.”

Yeah, as if. Here’s my if — if he is really as clueless about the people who surround him, his own security guards, then he isn’t governor material. Just another wannabe bigwig pandering to the conservative base, showing his compassion for refugee children. Betcha he calls himself a devout Christian or Mormon.

Jesus only cares about white American children. He wants the rest to die, preferably horribly. Ask a Christian, I’m sure they can find a bible verse that says as much.

I am Christian, I have heard about that twisted Bible, but never actually seen it. In my Bible, Jesus wants us to love everyone, especially those in need. I wish I could share that Bible with these nuts

In Arizona that would be “Ask a Mormon” .. we’re infested with them and their nasty hatreds.

I’m betting he’s Mormon. They ALL are down here. They’re still trying to pretend that they tolerate blacks/browns but we all know they don’t.
We’d like to get rid of our 90 Dwarf Mormons and have a real legislature but I don’t see it happening.

Um. If I was a politician and men carrying guns were following me around, if I didn’t know them or why they were following me, I’d ASK (or send one of my minions to ask, just in case they were planning on SHOOTING ME!).

When, a couple of New Black Panthers carried around guns, Fox News lost their minds for MONTHS, claiming this proved that all liberals are radical, armed black nationalists.

“I neither requested them in any way, shape or form, I didn’t arrange for them to be there nor did I ask for their help or services…” and he sure didn’t ask them to go away because playing Army is what grown men do in Arizona. Did they have patches?

Translation: I asked the militia to join me because I am deathly afraid of brown children but I’ll lie about it to the media.
