Remember those heady days when our own right wingers were talking about how manly and decisive Putin was, (he rides horses without his shirt on!) and what a fine fine president he’d make for the U.S.?

Their hero.

I hadn’t seen him on the gay pony!
Bianca Bradley July 18th, 2014 at 11:37
Which right wingers? None of the Right Wing Conservatives, moderates or even libertarians trust Putin farther than we can toss a Boing 747. His KGB past is hard to get past.
Carla Akins July 18th, 2014 at 11:57
Huh? This spring all they could do is sing his praises, wishing Obama were more like him. Buchanan, McCain, Graham, Limbaugh, Giuliani, and the list continues.
Suzanne McFly July 18th, 2014 at 12:23
Those nuts jump ship at the slightest bump. Their words mean nothing, if they are not served to help keep their nutty base happy with them, they will dump anyone in a heartbeat. Putin seemed “manly” and we know how much those limpy morons love that, so he was made out to be their Russian masculine hero.

Seems to be mixed. http://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/the-rights-putin-problem/
Buchanan is of course isolationist.

Explains Buchanan http://townhall.com/columnists/brianbirdnow/2014/03/24/putin–patrick-a-conservative-defense-of-the-russian-bear-n1813658/page/full
More discussion, and you get Conservative thoughts. http://www.redstate.com/diary/lagwolf/2013/08/13/why-are-american-conservatives-in-love-with-putin/
No, I don’t think you can say Conservatives love Putin.
arc99 July 18th, 2014 at 17:06
you certainly can say it.. you can choose to ignore the facts. but ignoring the facts is the only way to avoid recognizing that conservatives were enamored of Vladimir Putin.. and since you decide to cite Patrick J Buchanan, I will do the same.
the Putin-worship is bad enough. but then to pretend it never happened at all, when recent events make such worship uncomfortable is exactly the kind of disingenuousness which undermines any hint of credibility from the American right.

Putin is trying to re-establish the Orthodox Church as the moral compass of the nation it had been for 1,000 years before Russia fell captive to the atheistic and pagan ideology of Marxism.
“The adoption of Christianity,” declared Putin, “became a turning point in the fate of our fatherland, made it an inseparable part of the Christian civilization and helped turn it into one of the largest world powers.”
Anyone ever heard anything like that from the Post, the Times or Barack Hussein Obama?
Bianca Bradley July 18th, 2014 at 17:21
Now who’s ignoring facts? I said the reaction seems to be mixed and I gave supporting evidence from Conservatives.
Yes I cited Buchanan and then I cited another Conservative author who didn’t like Putin and also cited Red State and pointed you to read the comments. I also cited an article that explains why Buchanan is the way he is. But so far, from the Conservative sources(because if you want to know what Conservatives are thinking you go to Townhall or the Conservative magazine I cited, you dont’ go to the Washington Post) the reaction about Putin is decidedly mixed.

“Putin decides what he wants to do, and he does it in half a day, right?
He decided he had to go to their parliament. He went to their parliament, he got permission in 15 minutes. He makes a decision and
he executes it, quickly. And then everybody reacts. That’s what you call a leader,”
Rudy Giuliani singing the praises of Vladimir Putin

I think he also said on 9-11-11 “Thank god George Bush is President!” or words to that effect. (gag me)

just like right wingers never, ever demanded that Sgt Bowe Bergdahl be brought home by any means necessary.
you guys are the undisputed champions of revisionist history as noted in MD’s references.

Do not lump me in with you guys. I have argued on Newsbusters and IJR, to leave Bergdahl the fuck alone.

I think it is just a matter of confirming everything with supporting evidence.

The self-proclaimed Prime
Minister of the pro-Russian separatist “Donetsk
People’s Republic” and his thugs showed up at the crash site Thursday. It is reported they are in possession of the flight data recorders. The fox guarding the henhouse?
Carla Akins July 18th, 2014 at 11:51
Sure has that feel, huh?
Bianca Bradley July 18th, 2014 at 14:30
As a warmongering conservative, seems a perfect opportunity to use our special forces to bootstomp these thugs into the ground. Then give Ukraine weapons.
