Everything Neocon Is New Again In Iraq
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few weeks since sectarian violence began anew in Iraq, you’d have missed all the neocon stars of the Bush Administration reemerging on the pundit circuit. The people who got absolutely everything wrong about Iraq are voicing their opinions, and people are actually listening?
Ahmed Chalabi was working in tandem with the White House and a former NY Times reporter, thereby creating a closed loop of disinformation. Remember, Chalabi was the source of information regarding WMDs. This controversial Shi’a propagandist, has re-emerged as a viable alternative to the current PM.
Throughout the past month, Chalabi’s name has consistently been touted as a potential prime minister to replace the besieged incumbent, Nouri al-Maliki.
The cry from the right, once again, is that President Obama is weak because he hasn’t launched a massive aerial assault on the ISIL group. The omnipresence of the neocon bromance team of Senator McCain and Senator Graham on Sunday talk shows drives home the ugly reality that war hawks got us into this mess, and they sure won’t lift a finger to make things better. By pensively considering the best option, President Obama will be bashed mercilessly because he won’t obey the architects of the Iraq War. Thank goodness our President thinks before acting.

Naomi Klein’s 2007 book “The Shock Doctrine” showed how the neo-cons also pushed Iraq to the brink by forcing their harsh economic policies on them as well. If you ever have an hour to kill this documentary about it is also well worth watching.

It is an interesting notion to dismiss opinions out of hand because people supported the Iraq War. Does it just apply to Republicans, or also democrats who supported the war? Does it apply to other subjects of public policy?
